It's finally the end of August, which means I'm getting kicked out of my house l0l
This update thread will be slightly different than usual. I'll be talking about a lot incoming plans and changes that we'll be making on the board.

Thank you all to those who have applied. Our staff roster change is complete.

Here are the following members who have been added to our staff roster.
@Tomppelisusi (http://kancolle.himeuta.net/forums/members/tomppelisusi/) - Moderator
@artificial (http://kancolle.himeuta.net/forums/members/artificial/) - Image Editor
@chronomeister (http://kancolle.himeuta.net/forums/members/chronomeister/) - JSON reader
@JoeyTheAsian (http://kancolle.himeuta.net/forums/members/joeytheasian/) - Artist
@iDuane (http://kancolle.himeuta.net/forums/members/iduane/) - Advertiser
@Captain Kiso (http://kancolle.himeuta.net/forums/members/captain-kiso/) - Analyst
@Neru (http://kancolle.himeuta.net/forums/members/neru/) - Analyst

Welcome to the team.

With that over, incoming update plans and such. With the team done, we're finally going to undergo a final major forum overhaul.
We are planning to make our website expanded to a broader niche to have more members join us. Our focus will no longer be unique to Kancolle only, but rather will be an anime-based board. We will still have a dedicated Kancolle category, so not much will actually change. It's just to keep in mind that we will be changing our name from "Kancolle Community forums" to "Himeuta forums".

Piracy stance
We discussed this for the billionth time and we finally came to the conclusion that we will repeal the ban on piracy. We do not endorse nor promote it, but all piracy content will be acceptable, excluding explicit material (pornography).

Roleplay
There's now a dedicated category for Roleplay. Please do not use General Chat Thread to roleplay from here on out.

Reputation
The current reputation system has changed greatly.

Reputation re-enabled in GCT and every subforum.
Reputation power disabled. Everyone's votes will count +1 or -1.
Reputation notifications will no longer appear (it has been annoying).
Removed reputation bars (green bars).
Added reputation count in numerical format below user's avatar.
All posts with -3 or lower posts will automatically be hidden.
You are now able to view all your reputed posts in Settings > Reputation.

Moderation
All section moderators will now be able to moderate every subforum instead of being assigned to specific one. Follow the rules and have common courtesy and you should be fine.

Dedicated Streamers
Looking for dedicated streamers to advertise for us. Will be giving forum credit redemption codes to the streamer to hand out.

Incoming Updates

Forum theme
There's been a lot of questions regarding our next forum theme. As we are expanding our niche, the current themes we have will no longer justify the forum as a whole. They will thus be scrapped.
We have chosen the theme template to use and rough drafted our forum mascot. The theme will take a while, but domain changes and things like that will all occur when forum theme is complete. Expect to see the new theme by the end of next month at the latest.

Documentation writeup
We will finally have our own wiki section detailing all the essential information (edited by our staff) regarding Kantai Collection. This should ease up most questions. They will be categorized and organized for readers to not get confused when playing the game for the first time.

Database
Working on it. That's pretty much all I can say, really.

Shop System
We've been working on the shop system to include more items soon.

Revenue
I've been struggling with this for a while, and it's either going to be ads, affiliate marketing, or subscription. Still in the works; thinking about it. If you have any ideas, you can post it here.

Social Media
Will be adding share with social media icons pretty soon.

Kancolle Badges
soon tm

All in all I'm working on incentives for more members to start posting and discuss. There's still a lot of things needed to be worked on. I thank you all for sticking with me all this time, and let's see our beloved website come to success.

Congrats to the new staff! Sad that I'm not among them, but best of luck to everyone. I'm actually not much of an anime person so this to me will always remain the KanColle forums, but whatever helps bring home the bacon.

It'll definitely be interesting to see if this broadening of focus proves to be beneficial or detrimental.

Congratulations to the new staff. It should be pretty interesting to see where the forum is headed in the future

@OVB (http://kancolle.himeuta.net/forums/members/ovb/)

Wouldn't that be up to decide by the reader himself? Afaik, we are all here at least teens so we've got enough intelectual capacity to filter stuff without the help of anyone.

And even if it is missinformation, woudn't it serve better the comunity to engage on a debate about it rather than censoring it?

I'm afraid to say that being a teen does not guarantee one's intellectual capability, especially when it comes to self moderation.

A debate only occurs when a argument can be tested and backed by evidence. Misinformation is false as a fact and there's nothing debatable about it.

I can see this post hiding issue getting out of hand and the topic should probably be moved to a separate thread.

I want to kindly ask everyone in here to open a separate thread if they want to discuss this matter. Every post regarding this that will be made in here from now on, will be deleted. Thanks for your attention.

And congrats to the new stuff.

What are you looking for this? I can get my answer off the air.

Revenue
I've been struggling with this for a while, and it's either going to be ads, affiliate marketing, or subscription. Still in the works; thinking about it. If you have any ideas, you can post it here.

Wasn't an idea last time that was tossed around was for some physical goods; posters, shirts, etc. Too logistically challenging or what?

Ooh~ updates.

Forum Mascot? That's a sight to see. Looking at our previous themes, it's definitely gonna be gud.

Revenue...well, a subscription would be nice.. Since some do donate monthly? Or atleast bi-montly. I don't like ads, but they do help a lot. And affiliate marking is a good idea too, well, that depends on yer decision after discussin it with the staff and reading some feedbacks/suggestions anyways.

Database Database! Woah-oh! Looking forward to it! As well as the Documentation write-up section!

Looking forward to new items in the shop. Maybe I'll finally get a a blinking name? Hahaha. Jk~

Anyways, Congrats to those that got promoted, and to those that didn't, hey the Forum's growing! Soon Saya'll need more slaves staff to keep the forums in check! Or not. I dunno.

I'm hyped.

We will still have a dedicated Kancolle category, so not much will actually change. It's just to keep in mind that we will be changing our name from "Kancolle Community forums" to "Himeuta forums".

Regarding this information,
(warning, strongly opinionated)

Honestly, I'm probably one of the minority (or only) as I say this,
but I'm not particularly looking forward to the fact that this is going to be an "anime-based" board...
I feel that there are too many of those around already, and it's going to be a big switch going from a website that primarily discussed Kancolle
into one that it is only a small part of, amongst others.
(For example, when I told my sister about this, she stated, "what? That's like going from a Tera Online based website into one that discussed all games".

I understand that it will most likely bring new members, be it little or many, but either way,
I feel that it will take away the small community we have here and eventually just be another website where people
spam, come and go, and generally don't attempt to create as friendly or close knit of an atmosphere.
Again, I repeat that I am most likely a minority in this opinion, but I for one, do not like most anime/manga and only occasionally pick one up now and then,
rarely completing it. Kancolle is most definitely not an anime -it's a game, and I expected this website to be one that primarily discussed such, which is why I enjoyed it so much.

Anyways, just woke up so please excuse my poor grammar and sentence structuring,
I wish all the staff the best of luck in developing and completing the new website, since it seems that their minds have already been made up to change it ~

Congratz to the new staff and good luck ! :)

So much changes in sight !

2 opinions i have to do:

Firstly, and it's a personnal opinion:

I join the mimasho one ! And i add if i came here, it was due to the fact it was (and still for now) kancolle focused.
I already fear the guys who could come and leave just for trolling in different sections of differents game just cause they don't like the others games. Or i could fear the guys called themselves as "Elite of japanese animation" who just could come with "imperial judgement" and break ambiance in different thread.
About revenue, i could add, until now, help was not a problem cause it was focused on the game i like, and i made some donations, but if it become anime based, i couldn't anymore, strange to say i wouldn't support one content but not all.
All of these is only personnal.

Second opinion, regarding Himeuta, as a group, (and why not, future company):

Nice ideas, open the forum in anime-based will bring lot of new members, revenue will be necessary, so i thinks ads could be the best idea, subscription, why not !
About your own Wiki, nice idea too, but take care if it could be in conflict with the other one !
Himeuta growing will be strong when you will open it to anime based, and i could tell "take care, it could go fastly out of control", but i know the staff in charge is enough good to deal with that !

Saya, getting kicked out from your house for new academic year or entry in the adult real life ? lol. In both case, good luck ! (for the second, i could add that it will hurt so much at start T-T !)

JoeyTheAsian: Take your time ! Mascot is enough important for taking the time to perfect it !

mimasho Huh, so I'm not the only one who plays the game yet has little love for anime/manga.

As for feedback... I hope that the original admin/mods still remember what they had in mind when they first created the forums. I personally believe that a major reason why we thrived and blossomed was because of the unique ideals that were set when the forums started humble. Giving up what makes us unique in trade for...other stuff may prove to be detrimental.

Or who knows, I may be completely wrong and the change could give the forums even more life!

Ryuuhou Kagiyama

chuwenhsuan I also share that opinion.

I think our recipe for success is the popularity of KanColle and the eagerness of our community to help out new users without the elitism of other games. As a result people feel comfortable posting about other things here too, and also share what knowledge they'e learned with other new players. Imo if Himeuta wants to continue to thrive, our community should be JP gaming-centric rather than JP otaku-culture centric. There currently is no other english forum I know of for this, so we can be that forum. I feel like it is the common interest of everyone on this forum, and everyone enjoys discovering and discussing the mechanics of games that we don't know everything about and we can't just refer to an existing wiki.

a Gaming community sounds nice. Rather than an Anime one...

Lolz
frankly when i joined this community
well i have not been here for long actually about 3 months or so, but still i would really much want a KC community tho rather than a general forum, well a anime forum. What makes this forum unique was because i believe it was based mostly on KC with a few other threads, but well, much has changed these past few months and tho i wont say much, i believe that major changes come at a big price tag, not stating its good or bad but yeah, changes are bound to occur. Thats my two cents. Personal thoughts mostly.

but then again, i dont own the forums nor have i contributed much, so perhaps i should not be running my mouth like this so much.
