View Full Version : How does the Teitoku get on the water?

So, I've been thinking about this for a while.

How does the Teitoku give out orders to the shipgirls? I mean, they do float on water, but do they carry the Teitoku or something? Or is there even a logical explanation? Or is he not on the field, and uses a projection-thingy? . Though he (you) is able to see everything, give retreat/pursue commands, and the like.

So is there an explanation or just simply it can't be logically explained?

I think you're overlooking the simplest explaination of all: They don't. They stay on dry land and its the girls who make the decisions for themselves. (or follow previously thought out plans, hence the extremely limited tactical options ingame)

An... actual boat. Like, a boat boat and not a boat girl.

But in a lot of the anthology comics I've seen, kanmusu tend to come back to the admiral looking all damaged, which means they sortied without him. They aren't official, but it's a fairly popular way of tackling that issue.

(or follow previously thought out plans, hence the extremely limited tactical options ingame)If they do decide for themselves, then probably they won't get back after a sortie, proven by Tenryuu's quotes, they won't retreat even in critically damaged mode. What I'm asking here is the Teitoku's power to actually intervene and order a retreat/pursue command. Since the sea is too far, how does he reach them? Join t Tactical Network or the like?

Via Science!!!

From what I've read (i.e from artists' works and doujins) I think it depends on the Teitoku on how he/she/it gives orders.

Some do like a certain biblical figure and float and water and tag along with their daughters
Some ride their ships (in all senses and meaning of the word ride i guess)
Some use satellites and give them a call
Some would be all french go Laissez-faire
And some Teitoku are mutants with telepathy

That or you press the buttons on the UI.

How about simple radio communication? TTK gets reports how battle goes and order them to either proceed or retreat.

So, boat-boats exist huh. I thought all ships were kanmusu. Though i could imagine the Teitoku riding a paddle-boat and tying a rope to Kongou's rig.

The phrase laissez-faire is French and literally means "let [them] do," but it broadly implies "let it be," "let them do as they will," or "leave it alone."

Huh, for a second i thought it was a clever pun on Lasers, fire.

Ride
Bad thoughts incoming.

Somehow i like the satellite thing though. (Please name it the Joint Tactical Network. Lol, Arpeggio)

Gunzou If we could give them orders we could influence the battle. I`m guessing they make decisions for themselves and the Teitoku simply watches from afar.

I forgot to add: Old fashioned long distance swimming.

But really, us Teitoku just watch and RNG-sama dictates the flow of battle aaand our crafting.

RNG is god.

If we include the satellite concept it'll have space monkeys, turtles and sealions(ETC), colloquially termed as RNG, manning it so even if we were able to commands to our fleet they'd end up as garbled screeching and Oh-ing (I have no idea what a turtle sounds like.)

I prefer consider the version like in Hagane no Arpeggio ARS Nova, Shipgirls have their ship form, Teitoku can sortie with her ! Personnal thoughts !

There's one teitoku that rides into battle on Rensouhou naked. His 'seat' being Rensouhou's barrel stuck up his ass.

I'll see if anyone can find that image on danbooru.

Three Theories.

First already mentioned... They don't go with them and rather send commands via radio/ sat comms/ some other way possibly conceivable by the human mind.

Second, formulated this on my own. The Admirals are specially selected able body people male or female. They are given special training to master a piece of equipment, of which I thought up two possibilities, A. A hoverboard yes I said HOVERBOARD, and B. specially designed water shoes that have their own propulsion system.

Third, based of the beginning part of an H manga I read :kongou_wat: ( I'm Innocent!!!! ). The Admiral gets his own ship from the actual navy and rides it into battle far behind where the actual battle is taking place.

Let me share my opinion about those theories.

Theory #1 (http://www.himeuta.net/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) :
It's kind of possible, though not too appealing isn't it.

Theory #2 (http://www.himeuta.net/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=2)
Water propulsion.. I personally think it should stick with the kanmusu.

Theory #3 (http://www.himeuta.net/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=3)
This is what i am kind of following in head-canon right now. As i said, tying a paddleboat to a kanmusu's rig.
But on a serious note, It's the most kinda possible way (for me). I can only imagine the teitoku waving signal flags on top of the real IJN Haruna. Yes. Haruna.

Being carried by kanmusu

I can believe this if it's Nagato, Yamato, or Big 7 ships, but i doubt Amatsukaze or Shimakaze (in fact, any destroyer) can carry a teitoku's weight.

If TTKs were allowed to take control of the battle, we wouldn't see Kongou rekking a DD while a Ru-class wrecks your flagship.

Probably, probably radio commands.

I believe the obvious answer here is that the teitoku has an oxygen tank+mask and is actually a psudo-sub unit commanding the battle from the back.

Nothing in the game suggests Admirals going out to sea with the Kanmusus (correct me if I'm wrong). That's all doujiinshi stuff. I keep it simple. It's the 1st ship of the fleet you send that runs it once they depart. They're the ones that give all the updates and everything during the sortie and when they finish, report to you. Whether it's a regular sortie or an expedition.

The Admiral just sits there groping Ooyodo in his office and eating Mamiya's stock of rations back at HQ.

'Glad I went back to read the previous posts on this one. I was hard-pressed to post the same thing. :P You know that's totally how it goes.

Hatsushimo's poor back...

(Alternatively, I sometimes imagine the admiral in a dinky rowboat behind the girls, standing up shakily and doing poses to indicate which formation they ought to enter battle in.)

hahaha I remember seeing this image a while ago and it's still really laughable to me! but yes, generally this is what I envision when I think about 'teitokus joining the fleet against the abyss' (ooi taking advantage of the situation is why I never put my ooi and kitakami in the same fleet..!)

As i said earlier, personally, i think water gliding should stick to kanmusu.
Unless he is a shipmiral

commando teitoku
Lol.

Maybe the teitoku has a Tactics GUI, seeing as technically, we ARE the teitoku.. so does that mean.. the teitoku is playing kancolle, within kancolle?
Paradoxes hurt my brain.

Kiso's face in the pic above me though, just screams "teitoku y u so heavy staahp"

I always thought they just wore headsets and had radio comms, pretty much like what @Leyanna posted. And I sure hope thats the case, there need to be more pics of kanmusu with headsets on T^T
Actually I wonder how the anime will depict it

I hope they will call it Joint Tactical Network, if you know what i mean.
Kirishima would pretty much be the Tactical Network's MC. MAIKU CHEKKU
Kongou be shouting BURNINNNG RABUUUUU at random times.
Teitoku's ears be bleeding.
When Dinner is announced and it says that Hiei cooked, it's hiding time.

^My opinions on how the anime will add humour IF the Tactical Network-thingy was considered Canon.

It would probably an "Indirect Promotion" of Arpeggio, any curious teitoku searching JTN would end up to Arpeggio. xD

(very late reply lol)
I'm just glad that the advance/retreat function was not RNG..
or else everyone would've been sunk. "Sinku ni naru Beam!"

I'm going for the radio theory in spite of other, creative theories. (Rowboat) And it also covers the most important (and only) shot the admiral calls- the advance/retreat.
