View Full Version : Ranking and Monthly Rewards

I couldn't find any good information on ways to achieve high ranking for the monthly rewards so I decided to ask here.

I usually sit between rank 500-1000 through only 3-2-a or 4-1 grinding, so I think I'm close to getting top 500, but I don't know the best way to do it. I'm sure some of the members here are experienced in getting high rank so I was wondering if anyone has some advice. Is there any resource efficient method? or will it be taxing on my stockpile?

Another question; When are the rewards calculated and received?

Going to sleep now, looking forward to responses when I wake up :)

If you want to place high in the rankings you practically need to clear all 3 extra operations each month (though 5-5 might not be necessary if you play on a newer server and depending on how difficult it is for you it might not be worth it) and grinding a lot of boss nodes to have a steady increase of admiral points.

The most efficient maps to grind for boss nodes are 2-3 with a sub fleet although the boss node isn't 100% but you can more or less spam all day if you have time for that (the amount of points gained isn't much though). Most people just do 5-4 because of the 100% route to the boss, the fact that the difficulty is quite low and it yields a lot of points. Before that map got introduced 5-2 was the go to map for admiral points since it also has a 100% boss route but it's overall harder than 5-4 and therefor has fallen out of favor.

Rewards are calculated on the last day of the month with the PvP reset. Said rewards are usually given out somewhere between the second and third week of the next month most of the time.

The big question is if it's worth the effort imo. If you're really close to top500 because of whatever you have been doing over the month you might try to go for it since it won't involve a lot of effort or resources and maybe you can get something useful. On the other hand if you actually have to expend your stockpile especially with a event coming up in about 4 weeks time (give or take a week) you're probably better off not doing it because most of the time the rewards are something that will be obtainable later anyway or simply are not useful in the first place.

It is quite easy getting into the top 500 or even top 100 on our server.
I was in the top 500 after half a month of playing and have been in the top 100 for the first 3+ weeks last months.

As you have world 4 unlocked, you naturally have access to 1-5 and 2-5. These maps are important to clear every month as they yield 75 and 100 admiral points respectively. Map 5-5 earns you 200 points, but I would not recommend you going there as the enemies are very strong.
Ideally, to grind admiral points, you want to do that in 5-4. If you do not have that map unlocked however, you can continuously spam sorties to 1-5. Boss battles are guaranteed and you will hit 4 battle nodes, resulting in minimal fatigue penalties. It allows you to grind that map pretty much without a break.
It is important to be victorious in boss battles (B rating or higher) as that yields substantially more admiral experience than at "regular" nodes. For this reason, you want to grind in maps with guaranteed boss fights. You will also want to take time consumption, resource consumption and repair costs into consideration since just a couple of runs will earn you a spot in the top (100, but you can if you only aim for top 500).

Map 3-2 and 4-1 are mainly to grind ship experience, not admiral experience. In 3-2, you will not hit the boss node when grinding. The probability to encounter the boss in 4-1 is very low, although the admiral experience/points gain is pretty decent.

Ranking rewards are based on the standings at the end of the month (last update of the month) and are distributed in the third week (on Monday?).

The most efficient maps for hunting ranks seems to be these:
   2-2『バシー島沖』 :(840/map 50times)
   2-3『東部オリョール海』 :(960/map 44times)
   5-2『珊瑚諸島沖』 :(2340/map 18times)
   5-4『東京急行』 :(2880/map 15times)
The ones in brackets are the amount needed to get 30 senka (battle score? dunno the English term). Source:http://kankoreshuukai.blog.jp/archives/2735441.html

Although, you have to remember that hunting for rank also means that your HQ lv would rise a lot. Thus, I wouldn't recommend it if your HQ lv is below 100, as that is the last level where enemy fleets changed their composition to more difficult ships IIRC (last one at lv 100 is 2-5 front of boss)

2-3 with subs is a pretty good method that yields fuel. 5-4 is necessary for higher ranks since it is very high HQ/time, whereas 2-3 is more focus on HQ/resources.

I would recommend doing 2-3 runs when you have time and doing a few 5-4 runs a day will put you in good shape. Each 5-4 run is worth over 2 admiral points Look at your current server requirements for 500 and divide by current date to find daily requirements then maybe multiply by 1.2 to account for late month competition. Then you can calculate about how much you need a day, and on most easy servers running 5-4 ~5 times a day should be enough to give you a good boost into top 500.

5-4 runs can be draining on ammo, baux, and buckets. Each run is ~300 ammo, 180 fuel, 140 baux for 2 CV. You use average 1-2 bucket a run depending on your ship level.

EDIT: Huh, the top slots are more competitve now than they've ever been before. The top 4 are all 3.4k+ and are all within 200 points of each other. Everyone else is a 2k or less pleb.

My last exam is Thursday so I will have lots of free time, I will try 2-3 spam since its resource friendly and see if I start rising the ranks. And if I get close I will 1-5 spam. Also a good way to level sendai and ayanami :)

EBXXIV For low levels, it's better to 1-5 spam. You have to realise that regular nodes give really crappy HQ exp. The boss node is what gives the most. That's why maps with branching rules that let you get to the boss 100% of the time are great.

Players on my server (Iwakawa Base) are not very impressive compared to others. However, the number one player appears to be the most progressive of all..
He is always at the top by a very crazy margin. As it appears, he is ahead of the second (across all servers) with quite a substantial amount.
I always wonder how he/she/they does/do it...

only recorded these as progress;

rank 551 rate 677 29th 3pm
rank 517 rate 718 30th 3am
rank 509 rate 737 30th 3pm

neither means you made it or not. This is already the ranking list for the new month(July)
You would have to check your ranking at 15.00 on the 30th June.

edit:
your rank was 509 at 3pm, so it doesn't seem like you made it
I don't know for 100% when the ranking stops for one months but it seems to be at 15.00 on the last day of the month.

the 03.00 update definitely is already for the new month

Marius

I did some testing today, to see at which point the new month starts for ranking:
(all times listed are japan time)

- ranking at 15.00 30th June: rank 467 points:? not sure but ~800 I think
- I then continued to farm/quests/etc but stopped before 00.00
- between 00.00-03.00 I only did expeditions
- ranking at 03.00 1st July: rank 302 points:60

This tells us the following:
- the new month ranking does NOT start with 00.00 at the first day of the new month since a few expeditions do not give 60 ranking points
- the new month likely starts after the last pvp update in the old month (15.00 on the last day of the month)

It cannot be excluded that the start time is actually between 15.00-24.00 but it makes little sense. Additionally the amount of 60 points indicates that my entire playtime after 15.00 counted towards the new month

Summary: monthly ranking stops at the last day of the month with the 15.00 pvp update and starts the new month at that time

Kuropo

Once the last update hits (15.00 JST), all points gained will count for the next month.
Boss meters in extra operation maps reset at 00.00 JST.

I did! I ended up as 86th, from 99th the update before.
I got somewhat afraid of dropping out of the top 100 as I "stood" around the 80s and dropped to 99 the update after. Before the last update, I ground double the amount of points it increased with each update. I usually aimed for 30+ points each update, and got 62 with the last.

Wow, so as a Kanoya base person, if I run 5-4 7 times a day, I have decent chances of ranking top 500, and if I do it 13 times a day, I could possibly end up in the top 100? That's tempting. I'll have to give ranking a serious try once this next event is over, and I can feel free to burn my resources and inflate my HQ level the rest of the way.

Thank you! ^_^
I lost almost 10k fuel and around 7k ammo between the last the updates of the month and I did not sleep much either. I did not want my investments (time, effort, resources) last month go to waste. Thankfully, that did not happen in the end.

Once again, congratulations on getting into the top 500! : D

Even though I have summer break, I probably will not spend much time playing this month either. I think I am already quite good on the resources for the event though. Back to being in the top 500 for me it is!

PS. It was really easy to get into the top brackets last month and it might be even easier this month, for those interested.

Yeah, it costs quite a bit of resources, especially buckets (2-3 on average). Luckily, I had a good amount saved which originally was intended for the event. I still have nice amounts left though.
You just have to not spend resources on anything else than 5-4 sorties. I never really did constructions for a specific ship after the first couple of days playing the game as I found it to be very unreliable. For daily construction quests, I just spam the default recipe. I use very cheap recipes for the daily development quests to still get a (extremely) small profit out of doing those. All transport ships and aircraft carrier quests can be done in 5-4.

However, you are indeed bound to lose resources if you are aiming for the top. Sacrifices have to be made. ; )
In the end, this is just a game. You decide how you want to play it!

CATS Then that is the place that you got for the month. The last update before the day actually ends is your standing for that month. All points you accumulate after 15:00 are put into next months rankings.

Unrelated to that, how do you (and others) accumulate that many points? I can easily get into the top 500 with just 5-4 runs and a light fleet, but I was wondering if there might be a better or easier way that I may be missing out on.

From what I gathered that is not true. The final standings are published on the DMM website under the information tab when you play KanColle.

Points for monthly rating reset at the same time as extra maps, but you start the new month with a percentage of the points you ended last month with (exact amount is unclear because you start gathering points after 00:00)

Last time i checked the ranking list for September wasn't up yet and I don't want to check so often because that means a new API link.

I did it by doing all the extra maps and spamming 5-4 a whole lot. (either with CAV, FBB, CV, CV, CLT, DD or 4 subs, but I tried other teams as well, like 3 CAV, 3 CV)

Unless the event needs the high line of sight for something I don't see why Shiun is that good and with the recent update the 41 Proto seems to be better than the 46 proto, so at least that turned out to be a good reward, though so far the two 41 protos I got from the last event where enough.
