    Ship Discussion: Duca degli Abruzzi

    The WoWS Devblog page has unveiled a new Pasta cruiser, another Duca, this one from the Abruzzi.

    Italian сruiser Duca degli Abruzzi, tier VII.

    Hit points - 32 500, plating - 16-20 mm, belt - 30 - 100 mm.
    Main battery - 2х2 and 2х3 152 mm.
    Firing range - 15.1 km.
    HE damage - 2100, AP damage - 3100.
    Reload time 7,5 s., 180 degree turn time - 25,7 s., maximum dispersion - 137 m.
    HE initial velocity - 995 m/s. AP initial velocity - 910 m/s.
    Sigma - 2.
    Torpedo tubes - 2х3 533 mm, torpedo range - 12 km, torpedo speed - 51 kt, reload time 71 s., maximum damage - 13 367. Maximum speed - 35 kt.
    Turning circle radius - 680 m., rudder shift time - 8.9 s.
    Surface detectability - 10.8 km, air detectability - 7,6 km. Detectability after firing main guns in smoke - 5,2 km.

    All stats are listed without crew and upgrade modifiers.
    Looks like your standard, run out of the mill light cruiser, but at T7. She'll probably need IFHE to be competitive, like the other Duca. Ten rifles, especially with Italian shells, may not be enough.

    Tier VII is a borderline treacherous spot for Cruisers. There are some real nice ones here, but they're also facing BBs around their tiers where their power and accuracy start becoming dangerous.

    15.1km is freaking short ranged, so that means this thing will be typically sitting in 13-14km, at best. I don't know about you guys, but in BB terms, that is "I can't miss" territory. She's likely going to be relying a lot on Spotting Aircraft like Duca D'Aosta, which gets very annoying with that long CD and short active time.

    HE & AP shells? Same HE damage as Duca, 100 worse AP than Duca.
    You have 10 guns vs Duca's 8.
    Reload, 180 degree turn time, dispersion seem identical.
    Faster HE shells 995m/s vs Duca's 950m/s.
    Slower AP shells, 910m/s vs Duca's 1000m/s.

    And as Keyan_TTK said, you're probably going to need IFHE. Duca's guns at Tier VI get lots and lots of nonpens. It's not a problem of hitting a lot with Duca, it's getting to do damage. This ship is probably more of the same despite having 10 guns.

    The torps look a bit light in total droppedbut if anything they should be good for harassing like in Duca. It's also got enough range to be useful, which can be great for torping RN CLs in their small smoke patterns. This ship with the long range torps and decent detection range will be good for that at least, or dropping torps at safer, undetected ranges that may get you killed in other Cruisers if they try the same thing.

    Should be an enjoyable CL like Duca was, but it's not going to be an easy ship to use for high performance. You have to work your ass off in Duca D'Aosta, this is probably the same but at the harder Tier VII MM range.

    Amusing that he's complaining about the air drag when Abruzi's shells have a better flight time than Belfast and Yorck.

    Air drag does cause curious arcs if its very high and you fire at long range versus short range though. On top of the slow final speed. If a shell had high drag and high speed, theoretically you could have very fast, low travel time, very hard hitting shells close in, and wimpy performance hitting at awkward 45deg angles at long range. In theory.

    @DLRevan I guess that's true. But it is a bit weird that Flamu, who loves D'Aosta and Cleveland, is so bothered by it. I'd have expected him to not have too much trouble with it.

    @Mobius You know Cleveland still has better drag and arcs than some other notable ships like Des Moines. Just saying....it can be worse.

    Cleveland's range is gimped at T6 though. It can barely fire at 15KM, unlike Des Moines.

    Duca degli Abruzzi is getting a slight buff:

    ST, Italian сruiser Duca degli Abruzzi, tier VII

    Increased the main battery turret rotation and elevation speed:

    Horizontal rotation speed increased from 7 to 7.5 degrees per second;
    Elevation speed increased from 5 to 8 degrees per second;

    These changes will balance the ship better against other cruisers of the same tier.
    I guess she's going to be handled like a speed boost-less French cruiser?
