But at least Harekaze has decent guns to supplement her torps. If there are no BBs (and furthermore no CVs) in range, or she's being hunted by a cruiser or a DD, poor Asashio is useless. Sure, she outspots them all, but how useful is that?

I await the day we have DWTs with 30km range, 30 second reload, 45kt speed, and can only hit CVs.

These Russians behind WG must still be bitter over Tsushima, they keep making bad IJN Premiums

They come with shit AA because for some reason WG insists on modelling them with their early war (37-43) AA configurations. In late '43 and throughout '44, the Asashio, Kagero, Yugumo, and other classes in that line got significant AA upgrades, often quintupling their loadouts of type 96 AA guns. Not that the Type 96 25mm AA gun was a particularly effective AA gun, mind you.

I won't comment much. Harekaze is definitely the better buy here, since she comes with US 127mms with that wonderful 4 second reload. However, this is less a problem with the Russians (WG is Belorussian) being angry about Tsushima and more the limitations of the system that WG has created, along with the class-vs-class system.

Getting more range but trading reload and traverse? No thanks. Plus having less range can be useful for opportunistic torpedo boats.

And go through islands like radar and hydro!

Asashio with DW torps is essentially old Shima redux with torps that are even stealthier.

@Mobius The sad part is those BBs got hit despite the DDs waaaaayyyy out ahead of them spotting those torpedoes. And people wonder why I despise the average player out there.

@M.A.Mitscher Remember that these are DW torps with a 0.7km detection range and that they travel rather fast (67 knts). It's very likely that the enemy DD never even spotted them. If that's the case, then you can't really blame the BBs for not being able to dodge torps that have only a 4s reaction time.

@Mobius I do believe that once they are spotted by someone, even if the DDs couldn't be hit by them, they stay spotted. It's a basic torpedo thing that drives some DD players mad. The DD players should have seen them, they were right in the path of Flamu's drop. They would have seen the torps even if they couldn't be hit by them, time to act. If the BBs wanted to be stationary and camp when DDs are about, then that's even more their fault. I see people do that all the time from that map position to shoot into the cap.

@M.A.Mitscher The torps are way behind the enemy DD, just look at Flamu's minimap. And once again, 0.7km detection range. Unless the enemy DD sailed above the torps right as they were passing by him, which is incredibly unlikely given the timing and the detection range of the torps, he could not have possibly spotted them for his team.

As for the BBs camping, it's literally 3min40s into the game. You can't expect them to be into the enemy cap at this point of the game.
