    [Early Fall 2018 E-3] Weigh Anchor! Combined Fleet, to the West!





    This post will be updated with confirmed information pertaining to map E-3 as it is spaded. The thread can also serve as a starting point for people to discuss the map if they want.

    General Event Outline, Participation Requirements and Difficulty System



    To participate in this event, you must have a sortie win rate of 75% or above. You also need at least 5 spare Kanmusu slots and 20 equipment slots. Completely depleting the health bar and therefore clearing the map will lock it in the chosen difficulty, it cannot be changed afterwards.

This does not affect the ability to decrease difficulty; players will still be able to choose "Easy" after clearing the previous map on "Hard".

    Just done with P2. Will continue P3 after I catch some sleep. Please note that friend fleet will be introduced to E3 later, so no need to rush this map if you are not in a hurry.

    Here's the short summary of this map. Will update a more detail version once I am more conscious and there is more info.

    Another installation map so set your ships accordingly. For LBAS, send one team with 4 bombers to boss, and one team with 4 bombers to J.


    P2
    Fleet: 2FBB 1CV 1CAV 2CA 1CL 3DD 1CLT 2CA

    While this part isn't particularly difficult, p3 involves fighting a much more difficult fleet with the same routing requirement, so a strong escort with multiple TCI tier ship is recommended.

    Note:

    You can use largely the same comp for both phases. Sub tank is recommended here as 3 out of 6 targets in P3 boss node will attack sub only. Equipping your CV with T97/T99 variant will give them further bonus. However, it is now unknown whether such bonus will stack by equipping multiple types of T99/97. It is also recommended to give your CV Suisei mod 22 from Ise k2's quest to increase their range. This bonus works on the CVL boss only, but when a CV with bonus trigger CVCI and get a critical, it will seriously damage or even one shot the boss. Use DB/DB/TB whenever possible as your the bonus is higher with 2DB, and it triggers another type of CVCI, which increases the overall triggering rate.

    In terms of escort fleet, a CVL with night battle equipment is very useful here as it increases passing rate and allow the CV to equip more bombers. There is no combined fleet pre boss in this map, which means her TBM will remain intact before reaching boss. Remember not to bring a searchlight, as CVL boss cannot attack at night without a searchlight.

    Edit: It seems that Iwai will provide the bonus as well. Giving your escort CVL TBM+Iwai+F6F-5N+NOAP will be a good idea. (Source)

    Edit 2: Change CAV's equipment to 2gun+spf+t3 shell for LD for the bonus from equipment.

    Completed Phase one on normal difficulty with three runs. SO far the event has been rather easy, though I am using node and boss support and thus have taken barely any damage. My roomy said I should feel guilty for not making this a fair fight, my reply was one of my fav quotes from The Mighty Jingles "Fair Fights are for suckers!!!" :)

    Anything one can do to kill the p3 boss?

    Nearing 20th LD and it still won't die, CVs do jack when all attacks get diverted by meatshield BBs.

    Killing the boss is a pain even at night thanks to her absurd armor and tanky escorts (had 6 times when boss entered NB without even getting hit once... lol).

    Again, mostly followed 211's guide. The main difference was that I called both supports primarily because I hate the Nu-class, and the imps, so I'd like them to be gotten rid of please - also, since I didn't desperately need Akagi's CVCI for the preboss node, I gave her 2 blue planes instead of 1 blue and 1 red for CVCI, so she could attack the installations at the boss node. This boss takes extra damage from Ka-Mi and 11th Tank Regiment, so you want to use them on your DDs if you have them along with double attacks since a night attack can do 100+ damage per hit. Surprisingly, my Kirishima finished her off with a 150 damage night crit... the AP shell bonus doesn't apply at night, does it? I was expecting just scratch damage...

    Part 2 Comments
    The calm before the storm. The boss is easy to wipe out, especially with a full set of 2 LBAS, since there are no truly heavy armour enemies apart from the boss itself. The boss' attacks, as well as the Nu-class, will be attracted by the sub tank, so your main fleet (especially with CVs with advanced range) will easily outmuscle theirs who wastes their first few turns attacking the sub (who, as a side note, only ever needs to be repaired if she goes taiha). You need 2 clean kills + a little more to actually reach LD, just 2 clean kills are insufficient. A fun fact that while the boss is called Anchorage Hime variant, she is NOT a installation so just attack her normally.

    Please note that the boss changes slightly for LD as she no longer has any more planes (similar to how Supply hime changes), so she cannot lose her turn from going chuuha or having planes emptied since she has no planes to begin with - she will also not be distracted by your sub tank any more. Use boss support if you have problems here, but she should still be easily defeated by your CVCI or NB characters.

    I used Kuroshio with AACI here because I didn't feel like locking any more DDs here, especially TCI-users, since my plan was to rely on the T97/99 nuke for Part 3 (which... didn't turn out so well... but I couldn't have known). Just use a TCI DD instead. The ABKM I used is a dupe, for now I wouldn't recommend locking your ABKM here if you only have one, just use a regular (strong) CL like Kuma and Nagara. But mine was extremely helpful with helping against the terror sub node along with a free opening torp to hopefully kill some trash.

    All those LD attempts cost me approximately 15k each of fuel and ammo, and 12k bauxite, but minimal steel (most expenses were from support exped+planes, not actual repairs).

    Ok. For all that has been shown about the T97/99 gimmick, please note that this doesn't necessarily mean the battle is actually 'easy'. The gimmick doesn't work on anything other than the boss, and it may require very many runs before your CV decides to actually attack the boss, even if they are all fully stacked with meme planes like mine, and even then they may not 1-shot with a CVCI in a good formation as it all depends on your damage rolls. For my actual kill, I needed my escort to finish the boss off after she received a non-finishing gimmick crit. Your land base attacks are mostly useless here although they can occasionally crit something, so just get AD at the boss to cut their air power (devoting the unneeded slots to bombers), but I'd definitely recommend boss support since, on a good confrontation, they can help to wipe out the DDs in the Abyssal escort fleet so they don't distract your CVs in 2nd shelling. Additionally, whenever I got Head-on Confrontation (4 out of 7 boss attempts), my characters had great difficulty killing things, as a result there was too much trash and my CVs were distracted from hitting the boss.

    Regardless, 5 out of those 7 attempts ended with the boss in red HP, even those without meme crits, therefore if you are properly set up you can get very close to killing even if the gimmick crit doesn't trigger - I'd say, if Friend Fleet existed, those attempts could well have been clears. Therefore, while the only real way to make use of the gimmick is to just roll the dice over and over until your CV decide to attack the boss, that doesn't mean you can neglect the rest of your setup as you might need to depend on them for the finishing blow. For example, do not use a searchlight for this part, as it will enable the boss to attack at night, without one, she will skip her NB turn.

    Personally, I can certify as to Chikuma having bonus damage (critting the LD boss for 200 damage one time, which is definitely abnormal), so I'd advise using her. And headpats to my dupe ABKM for doing the finishing blow with a TCI with 20 luck (her DA would have been totally useless, so I set her with torps just for that chance - and it got me the victory!).

    Regarding the T97/99 gimmick, I am also not sure if it works on difficulties other than Hard, but in any case, on Medium the boss' final form can be defeated just with typical CVCI, so I'd advise just using your best planes rather than gimmicks if not on Hard. Good luck and happy hunting!

    @Makikaki tbh, the boss at its current stage is like an easier 2016 Spring E6-7, where all you are doing is praying for a snipe from your CV. You can increase the nuke chance by keeping all bombers at max rank and have as many bomber as possible, as well as using bonus ship (tone/chikuma/kasumi/night CVL with Iwai) to finish the boss at night once it is at low health. Could also wait for the introduction of friend fleet in this map. Personally, I think it will be introduced tomorrow when they introduce E4-5.
