[Winter 2019 E2] Assault! Buin Defense Operation

This post will be updated with confirmed information pertaining to map E-2 as it is spaded. The thread can also serve as a starting point for people to discuss the map if they want.

Disclaimer: Information in this thread is subjected to change when new or additional data is made available.

    【六〇三作戦】

General Event Outline, Participation Requirements and Difficulty System

To participate in this event, you must have a sortie win rate of 75% or above. You also need at least 5 spare Kanmusu slots and 20 equipment slots. Completely depleting the health bar and therefore clearing the map will lock it in the chosen difficulty, it cannot be changed afterwards.

Please be aware that it is not possible to increase the difficulty between maps by more than one. As an example if you have cleared E-1 on "Easy" you will not be able to select "Hard" for E-2; only "Medium" will be available. However players will be able to choose "Hard" again for E-3 if you pick "Medium" on E-2 for this specific scenario. This does not affect the ability to decrease difficulty; players will still be able to choose "Easy" after clearing the previous map on "Hard".

    General E-2 Map Information

    Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Sortie Mode: Normal fleet (P1), Combined fleet (P2)

    Fleet locking: (P1) (P2)

Numbers of clean kills needed for clear: 4 for both phases

    E2 guide

NOTE: P1 and P2 uses different tags. Please plan well before dedicating your ships to each part.

    P1:

    Fleet: 2BB 1 CVL 1 CA(V) 2 DD with 4 surface radar

    Route: ABFGJK

    LBAS: Full bomber to boss

Boss node is pretty easy, so you can focus more on passing rate by including OASW and AACI ships. Not much can be said about this part.

For bonus ship, pls check this post.

    Unlocking CF starting point:

To unlock the starting point, you need to get AS at node A, L, N while sending LBAS to those nodes, as well as getting perfect defense once.

For AS at node A, L, N, sortie your p1 fleet to the target nodes. Send LBAS with full fighter to those nodes, and remember to do one node at a time to ensure getting AS. Node N is the hard part due to the two BB hime in the previous node. Consider using damecon here. The chance for damecon to be consumed is very low, as there is a high chance all enemy plane would be shot down after 4 waves of LBAS, your own plane and AACI.

After that, sortie the same fleet but with both bases in defense.

    P2:

    Recommended fleet: Nelson+BB+4CA(V) 1CL+1CLT+1CA+3DD (7 surface radar)

    Route: QILMNP

LBAS: One base with 4 bombers to node M. One base with 1 recon/1 fighter/2 bombers to boss

The boss of this part is pretty weak, so your focus should be on how to increase your passing rate. Nelson is picked here for using Nelson touch at node M. Noted that you could get AP only at boss on this route, depending on the number of SPF you have, but you should be able to beat the boss just fine. Increase the no. of fighter in lbas to see if you can get AS with your comp. Remember to give your DD loadout against PT imp. For all escort ships, DA of historical ships should be sufficient as there is no high armor target in boss node.

There are two extra shortcut here. One from U to M, and the other from M to P. The former is irrelevant as we will not take north route in the first place who wants to deal with double Re elite anyway, while the latter only skips an air raid node, which really isn't worth the time when considering clearing only.

For historical bonus ship in this part, check this post. Noted that many historical ship provide bonus in multiple maps, so prioritise harder maps first.

    @211303
    Unlocking CF starting point:
    What about using 6SS?
Also, any exact ships you recommend locking to this map and what should be kept to E3 in your opinion?

@allaire Sorry for the wait. I was on a holiday the last two days.

6 SS works well in E2 unlock too, but since E3 unlock could also be subcheese, you need to distribute your SSV well.

As for the locking, in terms of specific ship: (Assuming no luck mod, prioritse E3 p2 if your have different luck modding situation)

E2 p2: Jintsuu, Ayanami, Yuudachi, Nelson for nelson touch

E3: Isokaze, Arashi, Hagikaze, Yukikaze, NGNM, Myoukou, Shigure (pick 3 DD from the DD listed, Isokaze is highly recommended), Nagato for her attack, Commandant teste, Ise k2

I will be updating the full list soon for reference.

@211303 Any particular reason to use Nelson touch over Nagato ouch? I mean, why use Nelson here and Nagato in E3?

    @allaire There are two reasons:

    1. Nagato's bonus modifier is higher, and the ammo penalty doesn't matter in E3 since you will have more than enough

    2. She only requires another BB, while Nelson requires 3 shelling ships. Nagato will be more flexible especially when considering that you might not be able to field a 3rd BB in E3's fixed route fleet if the current speculation is correct.

@211303 Thank you for the answers. So for example my first fleet should look something akin to Nelson+CAV+Kirishima+CAV+Zara+CAV. With BBs having usual APCI setup and CAVs/Zara having 2redgun+SPF+spotter setup?

@allaire Depending on how many spf you have and if you want to get AS at boss.

You will need roughly 4 SPF for AP, and 8 SPF for AS. Boss isn't too difficult, so even with AP it should be easy. Also remember you need to find enough room for 7 radar in the fleet.

@211303 Fucking hell, I forgot about the radars. So 4 radars in escort fleet (2CA+2DD) and three in main fleet with 3CAVs basically being turned into SPF-Radar mules (3 SPFs+radar per shipperson).
