So I'm up to E3H last dance. I used 3 OASW ships for chipping and had maybe only 1 retreat due to sub node, so it wasn't too bad.

But how do you balance the escort fleet for last dance? I only have 2 Toukai, so I'm sending both waves of that base to ZZ. Any help for this fleet:

The high air power is because I don't have good interceptors, so I can't get 4 waves of AD at boss.
Do I drop Arashi/Hagikaze for a OASW destroyer? Or give Shigure OASW setup instead? And could I squeeze my luckmodded Abukuma in there somehow?

I'd really like to get my first hard mode medal this event, but the sub hime is being a huge bully. Please advise.

@friggo Go with the following for 4 waves of AD. Your main fleet is simply too gimped, and it's better to just give up a bomber on each of the bases instead.

    1. recon skilled/52 skilled/hayabusa IIIa/bomber (to boss)
    2. recon/21 skilled/21 skilled/bomber (boss)
    3. toukai+toukai+TBM+931 squadron (to node C)

The fighter power of your fleet can be as low as around 520-530.

You will have to face tank ZZ in this case, which is why I would recommend both ASW support and a fully sparkled escort fleet. Given the extra friend fleet, I will also recommend an extra ASW DD replacing either Arashi or Hagikaze. Would also recommend using one of the bonus historical k2 DD replacing the remainder of the two. Kawakaze, for example, will not only outperform them in damage, but also less likely to taiha due to non 4n hp and higher level. Will also rearrange your escort order as follows:

    Myoukou/DA DD/OASW CL/OASW DD/Shigure/Isokaze

If you are still really lacking firepower, try a random route fleet with Nagato/Musashi/Ise/CVL/CVL/Akitsumaru instead. You will have a 40% off route rate with this comp. For this particular comp, make sure that your BB all has an AP shell, and both CVL triggers CVCI. You would also want to give Ise a Zuiun/Seiran for chipping the sub loli's health, thus increasing the chance to shut down her closing torp. The AA fire in this map is quite weak, so don't worry too much about the seaplane being shot down.

Sub-hime is a brat. It's even more painful when the kaiboukan show up as boss support (and do a grand total of five damage)....please please show up as subhime support instead? I'll love you forever if you do, even if it's just for one of them...
So @friggo, if it's any help/cheer, i took this fleet to the boss for Hard LD...three unsparkled attempts, one of which was the aforementioned "and we got her to 25 hp, while in head-on, and the lolibrigade came by to fire qf 2-pounders"
Also first attempt doesn't count, because I didn't prepare properly for LD's airpower increase, and had AI for two waves of LBAS.

    How I scrapped by

So... with some favourable luck (and 211303's advice), you should have it. Your fleet doesn't seem at all dissimilar to how I got through. Good luck to you, with the kill and the farming.
[Yes I have 4 toukai, they were marginally more useful than the kaiboukan support were]

Thanks for all the advice. I'll go hard tomorrow and throw my remaining resources at the map :)

Follow-up question, though: how to set up the ASW support? 2CV 2CVL 2DD, use large-slot ships, destroyer equipment doesn't matter... but what planes to use? Do all carriers need to have a +7 ASW plane? Do planes like Ryuusei Kai and T99 Egusa even do anything? Specifically what planes are okay to use for carriers in ASW support?

@Ferreae: Congrats on clear. Nice targeting and NB TCI trigger by your escort fleet!

@friggo I went with 'every damn thing i had with highest asw, in highest slots for the highest asw scores'...so was hurling out autogyros, command planes , etc. AFAIK the only decent divebomber would be the one from shin'you/last event.
I had some fighter power though since *seems* that matters, esp when they decide to show up at that surface fleet node....so something to put in the tiniest slots.

...I could also be totally wrong. For the most part, they were a joke, but in my final run they 'saved me' when the toukai decided 'all the bombs' to a single sub.

Anyways, from what i know, that could be wrong: to participate, the plane MUST have at least ONE ASW score. The '7+' was for LBAS ASW Patrol, not aerial asw support.

Is something supposed to happen on the map like a sound or a visual indicator (like in E2) when I would have unlocked ZZ? Because I just did all the steps and nothing happened... or at least I feel like I cleared everything...

@firehawk12 It will be the same as E2; basically once you trigger the unlock, the sortie will end and you will return to your base. Did you ensure that you sent LBAS to every air raid node required for the unlock?

@Ken G Yeah, I totally missed the U node because all my LBAS was range 5. Got it. :)
