    Got her!

    Finally got her!



    Fleet was based upon my LD fleet, plus edited with changes from kazenorin fleet posted before. I tried different ships in the last 2 or 3 days and at first it was going okay, but the second day was terrible, I switched to this fleet and it was working wonderfully.

    I sent the first LBAS to bomb C node, both waves and then sent 2 LBAS to boss. I found out for me personally, if I could get passed C node, everything after that was pretty fine, ZZ node gave little trouble, I had one retreat from it, J node gave me the odd trouble with retreats, but it was really C node that was causing the major problems for me.

    It's a shame POI doesn't show the equipment stats like KC3 for screenshot purposes, but the equipment is what you expect, the best available and upgraded. I tried to keep my flagship for my support fleets sparkled, swapping ships out with others, but the last 15 sorties. I just stopped.

    I don't know what happened, but today's sorties was a dream, my fleet was just smashing the boss node. I was just getting S ranks all the time.

    During farming, I managed to get two extra ducks and a few extra DE's.

    I cleared E-3N on normal without unlocking ZZ since V was more managable than 2 instant-death sub nodes. Unfortunately I got lured in by the siren of bigger historical bonuses and went back to open ZZ. This was a mistake. My number of S ranks when I get to the boss is pretty poor and getting there is a lot more difficult than it was now that I have to decide how to split my ASW LBAS attacks. There doesn't appear to be a way to specifically route through V with ZZ unlocked, and getting sent to U looks like it would be an automatic failure due to the comp at W. Then again, when I was clearing I was running node support every run and I haven't been doing so for farming, so V might not even be preferable anymore.

    I feel like my best option might be to send both LBAS waves to C to try to ensure passing there as it is the source of most of my retreats. That might just lead to retreats at ZZ, which wouldn't accomplish anything beyond using up more of my distressingly low resources. My 3 OASW don't usually do enough damage to keep the sub himes from causing at least chuuha, but my Gotland and Tashkent are probably too low level to be especially useful at 57 and 56 respectively. Arashi and Hagikaze are also too low to probably be much use. My fleets should definitely be tweaked, but I don't really know what would help at this point. I'll just include my fleet and see what advice anyone might have. Behind spoiler tags, I guess.

    If you want to get to v, just keep the same fleet but remove the radar at flagship.

    I'm finally done with the event.


    No Hayanami, but I'm down too many resources and sanity points on this go-around to stick it out much longer just for her. Johnston took a solid 5 days to drop -- over this period, I collected a dozen or so rare Yugumos, 2 additional Gotlands, and a Fukae on top of getting my Nisshin to level 66. Good luck to anyone still farming.

    Support expeditions weren't necessary, and LBAS setup and deployment were the same as for LD. Arashi is supposed to have a surface radar in this screenshot, but I had moved it to another ship prior to taking it.

    Almost the same as the clearing fleet, but assuming you farmed Johnston first you can feel free to throw all your holepunched ships here to help with killing the imps at the boss node. With 7 SPF, it was random whether I got AS at the boss or not (it's not necessary for S rank, but it will make your fleet more effective), so you can definitely get AS with 8 SPF. Stacking your fleet with opening torps (as long as you have enough radars) will also help with killing trash on the nodes so your BB focuses on the dangerous targets.

    I highly recommend using Node Shelling Support here, because I feel it vastly improves the pass rate (unless you are the kind with all ringed+holepunched ships). Node shelling at BBH Node M to kill trash means your Nelson Touch will focus on the BBH instead of the trash, and support at the PT Imp Node Q means less scratch damage inflicted to your main fleet, which means a lower chance of being taiha when hit by BBH or the Rus. Maybe it's just my rotten luck, but I had an incredibly high rate of taiha at Node I without support, and shelling support definitely helps with killing stuff there.

    Just as a reference, here is my pass rate (including clearing runs)

    I decided to ditch Nagato Touch completely for chipping/farming, as going Double Line at the boss and NOT having touch triggering was jeopardising my ability to A rank at all due to the nerfed firepower from double line. I find this 2CVL comp, with LBAS focusing on ASW duty, much more effective in both passing rate as well as securing A rank at the boss, although S rank is more unlikely although possible. Despite the heavier use of attack planes, I found that the slots rarely if ever emptied - Ise's Zuiun never emptied at all in my experience, so I feel the risk of losing her arty spotting at the boss node is low.

    Additionally, going with 2CVL means you can ditch the incredibly frail Akitsumaru who randomly explodes at airstrike nodes, and you can also bring a Saiun to ensure that your OASW (Use two 4-slot OASW for incredibly strong hits and that the rest of your fleet can focus on boss damage) will almost always at least chuuha the subhime by blocking Red T. This fleet is also cheaper to run, and best of all, lets me bring Hiyou along~

    Also thanks to @211303 for highlighting Hatsukaze's x2 bonus at the boss, I gladly brought her along since I was actually using her (unlike the other 3 x2 bonus DDs), and her presence and the absence of the other x2 ships still allows for the x2 damage Friend Fleet to appear at the boss. Randomly exploding BBHs with single hits, yes please.


    In the absence of me writing any guides for this event due to being away, this is what I have to offer (albeit after the original event end date had already passed). I want to say thanks very much to everyone who wrote a guide/clearing report for all the maps, they helped me in my last-minute backlining immensely!
