    [Spring 2019 E3] Commence! Allies Rescue: The 2nd Hawaii Operation





    This post will be updated with confirmed information pertaining to map E-3 as it is spaded. The thread can also serve as a starting point for people to discuss the map if they want.

    Disclaimer: Information in this thread is subjected to change when new or additional data is made available.








    General Event Outline, Participation Requirements and Difficulty System



    To participate in this event, you must have a sortie win rate of 75% or above. You also need at least 5 spare Kanmusu slots and 20 equipment slots. Completely depleting the health bar and therefore clearing the map will lock it in the chosen difficulty, it cannot be changed afterwards.








    Please be aware that it is not possible to increase the difficulty between maps by more than one. As an example if you have cleared E-1 on "Easy" you will not be able to select "Hard" for E-2; only "Medium" will be available. However players will be able to choose "Hard" again for E-3 if you pick "Medium" on E-2 for this specific scenario. This does not affect the ability to decrease difficulty; players will still be able to choose "Easy" after clearing the previous map on "Hard".

    E3 cleared. As usual, will update a preliminary guide for E1-3 tomorrow after I get some sleep.

    Would advice you to wait till EO's release though as the allocation of key ships like Ise and Nelson will largely affect the difficulty of these maps.

    E3 Preliminary guide:

    As always, this is only a preliminary guide and might subject to change after more info and stages are revealed. Key ships like Nelson will help a lot in this map so you might want to see whether she is needed in the EO first.


    Bonus ship: Kiso, Bep, Nachi, Ashigara, ABKM, Tashkent, Kasumi, Tama, Gangut (source)

    P1:
    Fleet: STF with 1FBB+2CVL+3CA 1CL+3DD+1CA+1CLT

    Route: BFILN

    Fighter power: 450+

    LBAS: 1fighter 3 bomber for both base. Send one to L and one to boss while chipping, and both to boss in LD.

    Note:
    Pretty easy phase overall. Only problem is that the boss armor will increase to 270+ in LD for hard mode, so you might want to give DD like Tashkent a TCI setup.

    Unlock starting position:

    Requirement: S rank at node O, AS at node I, AS+ for node E.

    Step 1: Sortie the P1 fleet again to get AS at node I

    Step 2: Replace one of the CA in the P1 fleet with a CV and switch to CTF. Take the route ADEHJPO for the rest of the objectives

    Note:
    Key here is to have your main fleet kills DJ hime and all artillery imp before entering night battle. CL/AV with the above loadout will one shot DJ hime even if they are taiha already. There is also 2 PT imp in escort, so DD geared for killing them is also recommended, as long as that doesn't affect damage. Holepunched DD with DA build, MG in RE and anti-installation equipment comes to mind.

    As for the boss itself, she has 290 armor in LD so having a couple of historical in escort will be important. The above fleet is the fleet I used for LD, but you can move Gangut back to main fleet for better passing rate for chipping. Not entirely sure about the properties of this installation boss, but daihaitsu type doesn't seem very effective as far as I can see.

    So... Eight WG rockets, huh? How would one go about clearing E3H with, say, just three?

    Believe me, I wish I had more, but Yuu-chan hasn't appeared as a drop for two years now. I haven't even been playing KC for that long.

    ...Just bruteforce it and hope for the best?

    Still in the midst of clearing E3H myself (I'll get it done today), but I watched a friend with only 3 WG clear Hard yesterday in just a couple of tries and it's definitely possible even without gimmicks like the touch attacks. This is because historical ships (Nachi, Ashigara, Gangut) are capable of doing well over 200+ damage a hit against the last boss form on a crit with a T3 shell and don't use up your limited supply of WG42 to be capable of being a finisher.

    Personally, I'd say if you committed Tashkent here, for the final boss form you should stick two WG42 on her and place her in the escort, and the last with your nuke combo in the first fleet (either DD/CL/AV with tank and daihatsu+marines and your last WG) aimed at potentially taking out Supply Hime. You could then have Nachi, Ashigara, Gangut and Tashkent all into the escort fleet so they have a chance of taking out the boss in night battle. Of course, you'd be heavily dependent on good land base+day shelling performance to preferably isolate the boss so the historical ships can focus on her, but it can definitely be finished off with just 3 WGs.

    I will add that friend fleet might be introduced later, which will further lower the difficulty.

    Just wait to see what happen after tonight's hotfix.

    Comments
    Part 1 is again extremely easy, I did not have problems with boss armour (apart from having to yasen every battle to finish her), as she was usually the only one left and as a result was scratched to orange/red by all characters before night battle. It is possible to get AS+ at Node B by bringing extra SPFs or not having CVCI on one of your CVLs, but I don't think it makes a huge deal.


    For Part 2, I decided to use Nelson because enjoying huge explosions is one of the reasons I play this game. But, my conclusion from playing through this map with her is that the special attacks from Nelson Touch might help a little for chipping (unimportant, since you can always do more chipping runs), but are not really needed to finish off the boss' final form. In short, Nelson Touch doesn't really contribute all that much. Don't lock Nelson here unless she really has no use in the EOs.

    Additionally I was careless to lock both Tone and Chikuma here, but that was before historical boosts were worked out. Just one CAV is enough to help with airpower, and historical bonus ships for finishing the boss rather than WG-holding CAVs. On the other hand, I didn't use Tashkent as I was saving her in case of any possible application in EOs

    The problem I really felt in Part 2 is the pass rate, which I have to say I had more problems with than in E2 (it could just have been unnaturally lucky there and unlucky here). To help with this, I put Gangut in the main fleet, muled a CAV and one CVL to guarantee AS at Node J with 3 CV(L)s, and brought a OASW ship to help with the terror subs. All of these precautions were of course removed for final boss runs, thankfully I did not have many turnbacks when doing final attempts. When your fleet is set up explicitly for boss killing, it tends to do its job.



    This is the main reason - look at that crit damage. Of course, you need to have your historical ships survive and target the boss in the first place and crit, but if they do, the job is almost done (as long as, say, the boss didn't start yasen with full HP and multiple escorts). Stacking your escort with the historical ships with T3 shells (or Tashkent with 2 WG42s) is your best bet. Tama with 11th Tank Regiment is also notable, as her DA will wipe out any escorts at the boss node. All this kind of damage is what demonstrates that Nelson Touch really isn't much of a big help at all.

    This map is a bit of challenge, definitely not 'easier than' E2. It just has difficulty in a different way - the usual perils of getting a combined fleet to survive some cruel nodes without Vanguard, and what amounts to an equipment check (tank combo, WG42s) and ship check (for the Russians) for beating the boss.     how to i unlock the 2nd starting point?
    i have done all the requirement AS on node E and I and S rank at node O but it didnt show up
