@goesto11 Funny, I ended up going with single CLT, but It didn't matter anyway because the Akagi fleet was so OP that, with some good RNG, I was able to clear it without even using Boss support. One well placed TCI and the boss was toast.

    E5H cleared....

After over a week of getting bogged down by work to the point that I had to leave the event hanging after E5 shortcut/debuff unlocks and literally not touching the game, I came alot closer than I would have liked to the end of the event before clearing.

Usually it doesn't go well for me when I leave it so late, but this map was....strangely cooperative for a final EO. 6 runs, and 2 of those LDs. All chipping were clean kills. Could probably be the cleanest Hard mode final I've ever done. I hesitate to say the map is easy, because it certainly has all the elements of a frustrating map like the Re node. Maybe I was just lucky. Like with the kill above, the boss actually had 119 hp left so that hit from Johnston was pretty close to whiffing.

To be honest, I probably would have ended feeling disappointed from this map after experiencing the terror and frustration of E3/4 if the boss BGM from this time plus Naga/Mutsu combo debut didn't make it so fun.

Some really late notes, if it matters to anyone:

    - I definitely endorse node support, versus what forcyte and I think someone else said about it. It's not there to eliminate the most dangerous foes, which would be the 2 Re-class and the Nu class Kai Flagship at N. Rather, with 4 battleships in most people's fleets and the strongest of them probably packing Very Long range causing them to shell first, eliminating as many trash mobs as possible definitely helps with passing. On this map I found equipping more than usual high accuracy guns rather than the usual radar supplements to cap on damage was fairly beneficial. I took out the meaty transports at N pretty consistently, and when they hit the Ne class at X, it tended to wipe them too.

    - I opted for 2 CLT in my chipping runs, but swapped 1 for Kasumi with a full TPCI loadout for LD. ABKM with multiple CLT, as is usually the case, really helps with passing rate. As with support and other things that help clear, it's more about letting the main fleet start shelling on the dangerous targets with their first shots. I left KTKM with her DA setup even in LD, it's good enough versus the meat-shields and TPCI doesn't help her crack the boss.

    - For reasons I can't fathom, LBAS seems to get shot down very little at the boss despite there being multiple Tsu class of various types in every configuration. I'm not sure what's going on there. Whatever the case, for the first time ever I actually gained ranks on my LBAS bombers while sending triple largely bomber only raids in Air Denial on a final boss map. So....go nuts I suppose? Stuff as many bombers as you can into your bases, and try to get AP on just the first base and AD on the rest. The low shootdown rate also presented itself with my fleet's planes, but then again I was using only the murata squad and zuiun with shootdown protection.

-As for putting a Toukai in the last base, seemed to work well enough. In one run it missed, but to be honest, the sub isn't that big a deal at least for chipping. If you have Sam and Johnston in your fleet like I did, generally they will send the sub to chuuha with their OASW. I had Ise in my fleet carrying a zuiun so the sub continued to tank for a bit, but that was fine for a chipping run. For LD, I think I favor not gimping the LBAS with more Toukai or your own fleet with any additional ASW. Proper LBAS bombers do a lot of good work here.

    - Nagato/Mutsu special, or presumably Nelson Touch which I didn't use, has a stark effect on the boss. Especially Nagato's version, which with max modifiers can boast up to 700 dmg crit damage....and this is daytime damage. It's not exactly news since we've had the special attacks for awhile, but this boss comes pretty close to being unbeatable without one of the specials. The one LD I failed was because the special didn't trigger, and the end result of that was my whole main fleet wiped out and 5 enemy main fleet ships grinning merrily with healthy hp. On the flip side, when it does trigger favorably, often it leaves little left but cleanup, with the boss not dying during the follow-up simply because her armor is way over the max damage of all daytime CIs. I'm not sure if that's a good thing for future events.....but for now eh. It looks cool. Basically if you're not using any of our three Big 7's specials here, you're daft.

    - So I see in several places elsewhere, many comps include Iowa somewhere. Not taking Iowa along is more beneficial in my mind than placing her in either of the fleets. In main fleet, while she does do more damage due to her historical, there's few enemies in the enemy main fleet where she would wipe them out versus say Muashi doing it instead. That's assuming Naga/Mutsu is being used, Nelson touch would work well with Iowa. As for escort, probably most people here at Himeuta are using Bismarck due to 211303's recommendation. But to emphasize the reasons for that, Iowa isn't appreciably more tanky, and she doesn't do anything with her historical damage if shes muling night battle equips and a radar. Bismarck chips with her torpedo too. So with that, not taking Iowa (and Fletcher and 1st Cardiv) means you can get access to the the best friend fleet available. It might look only a little better than the 2nd best Akagi/Kaga friend fleet, but actually it's quite a difference considering all 6 members are capable of eliminating any of the enemy meat shields on their own.

    - To comment on probably a luck matter, I really do not know why, but Re-class in this map seemed to miss most of their opening torpedoes. Which is traditionally the problem with elite Re-class, since only LBAS can really stop that. This is especially considering escort fleet has poorer evasion in STF... Anyway I didn't equip any damecons/goddesses. As much AA as I could stuff into expansions instead made chipping runs pretty worry free for all the air nodes and sometimes node N. AndAnd that's a non-consumable, more consistent gain, at least pre-LD in my view. On another note, I'm noticing pre-boss nodes made trivial by damecon/goddess become much more prevalent. Such as the previous Winter 2019 event where we had to pass through two nodes with Sub hime. With LBAS able to take care of one, passing was still ridiculously frustrating, but became trivial if escort fleet was equipped with damecons. As with the Big 7 specials, not sure if that's a good thing in the future...

@goesto11 I actually did phase 1 E5 and more than half of the gimmick set up after clearing E-4. Today I'm just finishing up the rest of the gimmick then onwards to clearing.

E5 ez cleared, with lv. 23 Johnston in the fleet. While I opted for the most watered down difficulty this time, I practically had 4 days to get it done on top of my regular life's schedule. Not sure yet if I should farm Fletcher.
