    @IronWarrior Did you bring the same number of TCI ships from the guide? I'm also looking at doing medium but I only have a handful of luckmodded ships and I don't think they're going to be much use here.

    @F50Grunt You don't actually need a lot of luckmod here though. Both American DD has 40 base luck already, and for the 3rd DD you can use either Kasumi or Ayanami, or even just use a 2nd CLT with DA build. The night scout carrier slot can be replaced with a BB night battle equipment mule with large searchlight/night scout/radar/flare due to CA/BB's low damage. The only spot that actually requires luck mod would be ABKM.

    Samuel, Abukuma, Pudding, Kitakami, Kasumi and Johnson, everyone apart from Kitakami (she had two guns and minisub) was equipped with torpedo's. Samuel carried a searchlight and Pudding carried Night Recon and Flares.

    As 211303 said, you don't really need high luck, since the historical bonus does the damage, for example here... https://streamable.com/g8f5u Sam did over 200 damage with a normal top attack: which really surprised me.

    That said, Samuel and Johnson both 40 luck and if you got Kasumi, she has 37 luck.

    This was my final battle, might give you a idea what to expect. Every ship and all four fleets was sparkled (in PVP).

    Which is better for LBAS in node Z?

    LBAS 1: 3xT1Mod34+fighter and get AP
    LBAS 2: Toukai+2xT1+fighter and get AP

    or

    LBAS 1: Toukai+2xT1+fighter and get AD
    LBAS2: 3xT1Mod34+fighter and get AP

    @ofi123 why only 2 bases? You can send all three out. Would also recommend either 6 waves of ad or 2 waves of ap followed by 4 waves of ad.

    Advice wanted on the choice of TCI DDs for E5 in general...
    I won't be attempting LD until the FF, but possibly starting the map tomorrow...

    So here's a few shortlisted candidates:

    I have a set of Lv 20 Maruyus, so Johnston most likely would receive that and become 48 luck.
    Kagerou was a long-term project, and will most likely become 99 tomorrow and probably ringed any time after that.

    Also, though I have many luck-modded ships, none of my CLTs are luck modded, with Kitakami having only 33 Luck (+3 from ring). So I'm probably going DA with her.

    Apart from ships selection, is node/boss support needed for Part 1 and Part 2 pre-LD attempts?
    I prefer not to send supports to save resources and sparkles in case I get really unlucky...
    Resources are currently at 267/280/275/272 + 2746 Buckets, which probably isn't bad but still...

    @kazenorin You can have an argument for Kasumi over SBR, basically trading firepower for triggering rate, but it's not that large a gap of triggering rate. Probably would still recommend SBR.

    Kongou k2C is a nice choice for night battle equipment mule since she can carry big searchlight for more taunt and could fire closing torp for chip. I think that is the best choice for the night scout carrier spot given the low x1.05 bonus for CA/BB, especially when ff is coming. More protection for your damage dealer is preferable over marginally more damage.

    As for support, I don't think node support is needed for pre LD in both phases, but boss support is welcome for pre LD in E2.

    I'm slowly preparing my comp for E5 and will get started as soon as the friend fleet is implemented. Several questions though:

    1. I only have 2 toukai. Should I bring an OASW setup DD for phase 1 or will SBR + Johnston be enough to get through the sub node?

    2. I don't have a large searchlight. Is a BB yasen mule still worth bringing for phase 2 with a regular searchlight, or is a luckmodded Myoukou better?

    3. I don't have upgraded OTO-s. Do I just put another regular large gun on Nagato?

    4. Which destroyer should I healthmod for this map - Kasumi (up to 33) or Johnston (up to 35)? I figure even a failed mod would at least give luck = better cut-in chances for TCI. But which to prioritize?

    Hmm, I thought boss support would be a bad choice for chipping due to Re-elite. What's the reasoning here?

    The 3rd base is fixed to gainga etc so I didn't add it in. I was asking for the first 2, either 4 AP with Toukai in the 2nd base and possibly have higher chance of sinking the sub, or 2 AD and 2 AP with the 2nd base with T1Mod34 possibly dealing more damage.

    Ah right! Last time I asked about gun+AP+radar vs gun+gun+AP and got gun+gun+AP as the better option for Nagatsu touch since I wanted to bring FCF for chipping.

    Forgot to ask about gun+gun+radar. Is it better than gun+AP+radar?
