    I think I actually sortied more in part 1 (thanks to Asashio getting heavy damaged 3 times in the first 2 nodes of my first 3 sorties and, after that, getting some other retreat, even though I always killed the boss when I reached it) than in part 2 (it went A + S + retreat at the sub node + A (Grecale) + S + S + A (failed kill) + A).

    boss support for LD only: 3BB 1CV 2DD

    The boss (who, after FF, had around 250 hp left like CA Hime) was killed by Ooi after Kasumi failed her CI and Hatsushimo hit her for more than 200dmg (CA Hime survived since Kiso was already heavy damaged and the other 2 didn't do their CI).
    During chipping I used Asashio (T4 sonar +6, 15cm ASW rocket, searchlight +10) in place of Hatsushimo and Kasumi had the starshell but I dropped it for LD since there were times in which it didn't activate.

    As always avoided any CVCI since it can freeze my old PC.

    P.S. I just noticed I forgot to use another M22 I removed after part 1 but it didn't matter.

    Almost fully leveled my jet interceptors, 2 sets of DEs and 1 set of pasta CAs later, finally found Kuro. Now I can finally proceed to clear this map and maybe farm for more DEs in E3.

    E2P2H, been throwing at this fleet at it for 15 LDs, no luck so far.

    Is that to be expected, bad luck, fleet needs optimisation, or is it just not gonna happen and i should switch to 4BB comp?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    You need multiple lucky torpedo cut-in snipes on the boss. Just pray it happens. :/

    E-2 Hard Cleared - Shigure with big 300hp NB TCI to sink the boss.


    Followed 211303 guide with some minor changes.

    Fleets

    Part 1


    LBAS - both groups 4x LBAS bombers to boss node

    Part 2


    LBAS - both groups best range 6+ fighter + 3x bombers for both groups sent to boss node.


    Comments - Part 1

    • Overall went well. Took me 9 sorties to clear E-2 Part 1.
    • Per earlier comment, I'd use double support once you get to final kill. I think I would have cleared faster if I did that. Instead waited until 9th and last sortie.
    • Other than that, as some have noted, this is a bit of an equipment check as in how much anti-installation equipment do you have. I had enough, but not much to spare.


    Comments Part 2

    • 13 sorties to clear (7 final kill attempts). Not bad at all.
    • Leaving Ayanami second was something I debated off and on. Abukuma did have a few NB TCI during clear, but early on Boss seemed to always target (and taiha) Ayanami. Later on, boss chose some different targets, but I almost switched Ayanami to flag and put Abukuma second.
    • Decided to stick with Shigure (who actually sunk the boss for final kill) because while Jervis would help here, plan was to put forth best I could for E-3 Hard. Plus got Friend Fleet to help out. Worked out for me as Shigure did get a big hit on the boss to sink the boss on my final sortie. *pats Shigure on head*.
    • Never used Node Support. Frankly, I was surprised by the fairly high passing rate without it. I did have 3 taiha retreats, but still that's a pretty decent passing rate. Can see why some said this was farmable on Hard as you're just going for A-rank wins.
    • Chipping turned out better than I suspected. Got one clean S-rank, but my A-ranks had the boss fairly close to being sunk as well. Took me 6 sorties to reach final kill and that's with one retreat.
    • Final kill though... yeah, that's an NB TCI RNG roll. Not as bad as some events perhaps, but is what it is in the end. What helped was passing rate IMO. At least I was getting to the boss even if I need some lucky dice rolls. Also meant that it didn't take me long to reach final kill. No doubt it's frustrating getting stuck waiting for RNG to cooperate, but for me high pass rate (w/o node support required) and quick to reach LD made the process more palatable than some previous RNG NB TCI maps.
    • Did use Boss Support for final kill. Helped some. Even if it's just a 1-2 sunk ships, that's 1-2 less non-boss ships for main fleet to target.
    • Used "better friend fleet" as well. Most common one to show up was USN fleet. Results varied a lot. Sometimes kind of useful (maybe sink CA Hime so only the boss left for my fleet), sometimes... not so much. Wasn't a huge difference maker, but did make a difference.
    • Last but not least, 13th sortie was quite lucky for me. Not only got clear, but got a Gracale drop. Luckiest event ever for me in terms of new drop-only ships. Just have to clear E-3 now. Haven't seen Maruyu listed as an event drop so once I clear E-3, that will probably be the end of my event. Hopefully, that goes smoothly and cheaply. If so, I'll spam some Maruyu LSC once the event is over.

    @Serrulata: Ark Royal did quite well for me, but I can see why one might go with Aquila given big historic bonus. I wonder about using Gotland instead of Abukuma K2 w/ NB TCI. My Abukuma isn't luck modded, but she did have some NB TCI at the boss in Escort flagship position. As far as I know, Gotland doesn't get any historic bonus here (though do understand the load out advantage with Gotland).

    So that's one thing you can try, putting in Abukuma K2 for Gotland. You'll want to use Ayanami K2 then instead of Shigure so you can put a searchlight on Ayanami. Up to you whether to keep Skilled Lookout on Myoukou or go with star shell. Also, use improved Quad Oxy Late Model torps on Shigure if you have them.

    If you want to keep as is, I'd move Myoukou (assuming not luck modded) to flag ship for better NB TCI trigger chance. Could do the same with Shigure. Put Gotland 2nd then the rest as you want. Gotland w/o NB TCI load out is wasted as flagship.

    I do think you can clear with what you have. As Kuropo said, it's an NB TCI RNG map. Need to get the right "dice rolls". Assuming you're using Boss Support and Friend Fleet (better one) as well. If not, try using those.

    Is it worth using one of the Pasta DD's or German DD's that has bonus damage but not luck-modded over a high luck DD like Yukki but without the bonus damage?

    @IronWarrior: Have to crunch the numbers to make sure, but I doubt it given their low FP+TP numbers. Just not enough historic bonus to make up for that. I used Shigure (wanted to save Jervis for E-3), but seems consensus now would be Ayanami & Jervis for DD. Don't see any reason not to use Yukikaze over ShigureK2 unless you have 2x improved Quad Oxy late model torps. Those bonuses at +10 (max) add up. If you have some other luck-modded DD (e.g. Poi) can use as well. Jervis, does get a nice historic bonus and has good NB power for a Kai ship so probably best to use here if you don't want to save for E-3 (and there is current recommendation to use Jervis here and USN DD for E-3 if you have both).

    @IronWarrior: Posting your fleet if not already done so would help (maybe I missed it). Might be some tweaks to be made.

    Assuming no luck mods, then go with Ayanami and Shigure or Yukikaze (again, improved quad oxy torp late model can be a deciding factor). 4xBB option can work, but the problem for LD is high boss armor, and you're capped much more in day. Still, may make a difference. Also, obvious of use boss support and better friend fleet.

    Other than that, as I posted in my clearing report, ultimately this is an NB TCI RNG map. May not be the worst we had, but it's still that and RNG giveth and RNG taketh. Seems like your on the bad side of that which sucks. Whatever you do, just make sure you have E-3 planned out if you're going to be locking a bunch more ships here and planning on Hard clear for E-3. IIRC, only E-3 hard has any locking (though any non-tagged ships will get an orange tag).
