[Fall 2019 E4] Advance! The 2nd Southern Operation

This post will be updated with confirmed information pertaining to map E-4 as it is spaded. The thread can also serve as a starting point for people to discuss the map if they want.

Disclaimer: Information in this thread is subjected to change when new or additional data is made available.

General Event Outline, Participation Requirements and Difficulty System

To participate in this event, you must have a sortie win rate of 75% or above. You also need at least 5 spare Kanmusu slots and 20 equipment slots. Completely depleting the health bar and therefore clearing the map will lock it in the chosen difficulty, it cannot be changed afterwards.

Please be aware that it is not possible to increase the difficulty between maps by more than one. As an example if you have cleared E-1 on "Easy" you will not be able to select "Hard" for E-2; only "Medium" will be available. However players will be able to choose "Hard" again for E-3 if you pick "Medium" on E-2 for this specific scenario. This does not affect the ability to decrease difficulty; players will still be able to choose "Easy" after clearing the previous map on "Hard".

    General E-4 Map Information

    Difficulty: ☆x15

    Sortie Mode: Combined fleet

    And cleared.

I got pretty lucky for this run, but overall E1-4 isn't really difficult. Safe to say that anyone who is a regular hard mode TTK should be able to deal with these maps rather comfortably. Obviously though, you would still want to wait for E5-6 in case of overlapping historical ship and utility ship.

I will get the preliminary guide of E1-4 ready after some sleep.

@211303 Damn E1-4 in a single day, congrats. They seem to be pretty easy, wonder if EOs will be hellish then.

Wow fast. I guess that's why the rewards for final main operations map is so underwhelming this time around.

Disclaimer: Ship used in the guide might be required in other maps. Best wait for release and clear of all maps before starting.

    E4 Preliminary Guide

    P1:

    Fleet: (TCF)
    2CAV 4DD
    1CL 3DD 2CA

    Sample comp:
    Mogami: gun/gun/FCF/recon
    Mikuma: gun/gun/spf/recon
    Fumizuki: daihaitsu x3
    Kisaragi: daihaitsu x3
    Mutsuki: daihaitsu x3
    Satsuki: daihaitsu x3

    Yura: daihaitsu/daihaitsu/midget sub
    Libeccio: dcp/sonar/dc (OASW)
    Fubuki: sonar/dc/dcp (OASW)
    Shikinami: gun/gun/drum
    Furutaka: gun/gun/recon/radar
    Kako: gun/gun/night recon/radar

    Route:

    KLMNP

    LBAS:

4 bombers for both bases. Send to node P and M.

    Note:
The boss is quite tough for a TCF, so I choose to just secure A rank here and bring as many daihaitsu as I can. 4 A ranks are needed with this comp. You might consider node support here if passing rate is an issue, but it is not necessary. If you have dupe Mogami and Mikuma, replace Furutaka and Kinugasa with your dupe.

    P2 chipping and LD:

    Sample comp (with Akashi):
    Chiyoda: DB/TB/Fighter/Fighter
    Haruna: gun/gun/recon/ap shell
Furutaka: gun/gun/gun/recon or gun/gun/radar/recon (if it is a good radar)
Kako: gun/gun/gun/recon or gun/gun/radar/recon (if it is a good radar)
Zara: gun/gun/gun/recon or gun/gun/radar/recon (if it is a good radar)
    Akashi: gun/gun/radar/(bulge) (AACI)

    Yura: torp/torp/midget sub
    RJ: night tb/night tb/night fighter/NOAP
    Fubuki: gun/gun/star shell
    Libeccio: sonar/dc/searchlight (OASW)
    Mikuma: main gun/main gun/night recon/SCAMP
    Mogami: main gun/secondary gun/secondary gun/SCAMP

    Route: FGJMNRS

LBAS: 4 bomber for both bases. Send to node S.

    Note:
The main damage dealer here will be Mogami and Mikuma. Their build is to maxmize their firepower with DA while giving up artillery spotting, which isn't really needed anyway in a STF. Fubuki and Shikinami also has some significant historical buff, but due to their low stat and luck, they are not really suitable for the final kill, but should rather be at the front of the fleet chipping the fleet or clearing escort. Passing rate is pretty high so node support is optional here. You can slot in a CLT to replace DD for extra damage, but again, we do not know if we need more in E5-6, so only do so now if you have dupe available. As in P1, replace CA in main fleet with dupe Mogami and Mikuma if you have them.

Another adjustment you can make is to put Yura in escort fleet with 2 torp+midget sub for opening torp and TCI gacha. You can check the Akashi/Kamo comp for how such an escort fleet should look like.

Edit: I have also updated a draft of the Akashi/Kamo comp. One major benefit of this comp is that it cuts down the use of CA, which should help with ship lock issue. Again, noted that we don't know whether Akashi/Kamo will be needed in later maps so proceed with caution.

Once you reach LD, perform the steps in the following section for debuff.

LD is largely the same as chipping, but you can reduce the number of OASW if you want for extra chip of boss before Mogami/Mikuma's turn to attack at night.

    Debuff:
The debuff requires the following requirements:

    • AS at base defense
    • S rank once at node E
    • A rank twice at node P

As usual, you will hear a ping sound after sortie if you have completed one ore more requirements in that sortie.

Step 1: AS at base defense and S rank at node E

Setup your LBAS with your best interceptor and all your rocket interceptor, and sortie a CTF to get S rank at node E. For your CTF, you can just replace a CA (or Akashi/Kamo if you are using that comp) with a CVL. Use a CVL you are unlikely to use later like Shinyou or Ryuuhou.

Step 2: A rank twice at node P
Use the same fleet as P1, but replace all daihaitsu and drum with combat equipment.

If you have successfully debuffed the boss, the boss should look like this:

Double SCAMP oh dear. For those who have 1 only, what would you recommend to replace with? Skilled NOAP?

Just use the next thing with the highest nb power while doesn't interfere with DA. A good secondary gun or maybe French spb?

Another comp discovered is the Akashi comp that goes the same route as the sample comp above.

It allows you to bring 1BB+2CVL (1 slow ship at max) if you have Akashi in fleet. Passing wouldn't be too much an issue if Akashi is in escort fleet. We don't know if Akashi will be needed in EO though so proceed with caution if you choose this comp.

Thanks for the guides (as usual) and yeah, that's the plan -> wait. Long story short, prep didn't go quite as I would have hoped. Did make some gains with spot equipment improvement and bit more luck on Maya K2 luck mod (LSC Maruyu RNG still hates me = Maya K2 luck mod still 6 short *sigh*), but best I could do w/ RL et. al. is about 245k fuel 215k ammo (steel & bauxite are fine as is buckets).. So.... gonna have to get super lucky/thread the needle with this event. Doubt I'll get all Hard clear & get all new ships. :< Can only hope that there are only 3 new drop only ships (probably 4 so FML). Also 99% sure getting 6 ship lock tags so need to make sure I do NOT screw that up (historic bonus no doubt a key factor as usual). Seems 4+ days until EO opens up so will do what I can to add fuel and ammo until then.

    Questions:

    1) How is this event so far when it comes to resource burn? I HOPE it's not like Spring event or I'm totally screwed.

    2) General difficulty so far - how does this compare with other events at least for main operation?

    3) Thoughts on farming based upon what you've cleared so far. I have looked into this a bit FWIW. Shame De Ruyter isn't an E-2 drop (single fleet). All that combined fleet sortie really adds up.

What I have so far. Given that De Ruyter is Node O only (E-3) really worth it to try farming prior to clear? Pain in the ass to reset, clear 1st gauge again, etc. Lot of time and expense. 6% S-rank drop rate on Hard is pretty high, but how easy is S-rank consistently (let alone how easy to reach boss)? No idea about map costs/difficulty of post Hard clear. 2% drop for A rank is OK (we've seen worse for sure). OTOH, seems S-rank clear on Casual is also 2% so depends upon costs and buckets I guess. Rewards seem worth it for Hard clear over medium TBH. 3.5% (S-rank medium according to Poi) isn't bad, but is Medium THAT much easier/worth giving up rewards? Not sure about A-rank on Med.

Houston seems worse in trying to farm prior to clear. TP gauge will take longer I'd think vs. a short HP gauge. According to Poi - 6% (bit more) for S-rank on hard and 3% for A-rank. Not bad at all. Questions as always are costs, % to reach boss, etc. Comments on that? Imagine A-rank isn't too hard on S-rank. Definitely want Hard clear for E-4 since get the +4 8" Mk.9 Mod 2. Not seeing much reason other than fit for non-Mod 2 version vs. 20cm. No.3. +9. Also, betting no CA NB accuracy bonus for this either >_>. Get power-creep and not all stuff will be good, but so far, not seeing anything really of note beyond MAYBE the 8"mod 2 +4 and HF/DF + Type144/147 ASDIC (this is definitely good - no question).

    4) Any suggestions other than try to stockpile like mad before starting? There's not too much I can do while trying to stockpile, but might be able to some things. For example, Got 1 T2 12cm Mortar concentrated. Could build a second. Have one T4 20cm Rockets concentrated. Probably could build a second if needed (I did note that E-1 gives the stock version as a reward.

    5) Lastly, not sure if there's any word on Friend Fleets. Assuming will get one for E-4, E-5 & E-6. Maybe E-3, but doubt E-2. I sure hope that if there are going to be friend fleets implementation won't be late and goes smoothly.

    Thanks.

    @goesto11

Note: This is from Hard-only perspective
    1. So far the event is resources friendly compared to the previous 2 events
    2. Excluding EOs, unless RNG decided to whack your fleet, you have a relatively high chance to get into boss, and then it's cake walk since boss node is a joke compare to any random node before it
    3. De Ruyter isnt worth it to farm before clear as I said earlier, E-4H is sort of a pain if you dont have enough historical ship/good roll on boss armor/green T (best lay down and wait until friend fleet come or bash your head against the boss and pray you get Houston out of it)
    4. Fuel and ammo
    5. Personally I feel like E-4 will be the first map that has Friend Fleet, but who know
