    @silentcap Glad you managed to clear it at least!
    @Kuropo oh yeah, I literally stayed up for 20 hours as a desperate last resort to try to clear it before the debuff reset. It paid off, but I wonder what I would have done if I hadn't... maybe drop to easy or just quit the game. This was also the fun times when there were probably dozens of Kancolle streamers and they were all upset. lol

    AI/ML was the first time they introduced shiplocking and it caught people off guard I think? Or was that an earlier map?

    Congratulations on your clear! Although not on the difficulty you initially intended, I think it's good you can finally put this map at rest. Most important is always the clear regardless of difficulty. At least you have saved Atlanta too, which I think is a really good CL.
    @firehawk12
    Yes, I believe ship locking was introduced in Summer 2014. It was indeed the toughest ever event for me. E-6 took me 70 sorties, including only 25 boss battles and 6 boss kills.
    I remember, at some point I just continued to sortie almost brainlessly, just throwing myself at this fleet continuously for whole days.... It was also when I (and basically everyone) still did sparkling.
    Although I'm still kinda proud I got through that hell on the highest difficulty (HQ level bracket), I wouldn't want to experience an event like that ever again.

    Apparently I was pretty prepared for that event already with ship levels ranging between 80 - 99. (Started playing Spring 2014.)

    I have been keeping this infamous picture of the AL/MI event on my pc to this day:

    I went through E-1 pretty easily, but apparently it was a big hurdle for many players, especially the less prepared ones.
    E-2 was already a roadblock for me and even worse for those who barely got through the previous one.
    E-3 to E-5 weren't much of a challenge though.
    And then E-6.....
    That image is an accurately depicts my Summer 2014 experience, except E-1.

    @Kuropo haha, I remember that picture lol - I wonder what the final pass rate was?

    Also neat that you have your old setups. It's interesting how simple the game was comparatively in terms of the options you had to set up your ships.

    E6-H Hard Cleared - finally
    Ayanami & Yuudachi team up to sink the boss

    Final Sortie details as stars align

    [+] Spoiler

    Start of NB Post Friend Fleet. As usual, the 4 meat-sheilds are around though boss decently damaged in day. (FFleet didn't do all that much as usual in my case)

    Ayanami NB TCI takes toss down to 47hp. If she was at light damage or better, would have sunk boss which was the plan. Thankfully, Poi decided to target boss and didn't scratch so I could clear.

    Followed 211303's guide closely so refer to that for Part 1 along with unlocking/debuff stages. Did deviate a bit for Node V S -rank. Node V S-rank fleet. Main = Hiei, Kirishima, Intrepid, Zuikaku, Suzuya, Zuihou K2B. TB+DB+2x best fighters on CV(B) and TB + 3x best fighters on CVL. Escort = Ayanami (NB TCI), Abukuma (OASW + Ko-hyoteki), Yuudachi, Kongou K2C, Kumano, Kitakami all with NB DA. LBAS: Group 1 = 4x Toukai to Node F, Group 2 = 2x best range 6 LBAS fighters + 2x LBAS bombers. Group 3 = LBAS Recon + Shiden 343 + 2x LBAS bombers.

    E-6 Part 2 Fleet & comps - See Notes in spoiler

    [+] Spoiler

    Chipping Fleet

    Final Kill Fleet

    NOTES:
    (1) Eventually, for final kill I moved Ayanami to flag and dropped star shell because when I did manage to make it to the boss, escort fleet typically got mauled in NB with ships getting hit to chuuha (so greatly reduced damage potential) or even shot to taiha before getting a chance to fire. Thus, gambled on best start of NB snipe by my strongest ship. The ONLY other time I sunk the boss was my very first chipping sortie where Shigure (then flag) sniped the boss. It didn't quite work out exactly as planned when I cleared, but if not for Ayanami NB TCI on boss (even at chuuha) probably don't clear that sortie. This goes against SOP of putting strongest NB ship near bottom of escort fleet order, but between Ayanami (when 5th) eating a torp at Node B or getting hit to chuuha/taiha during NB at boss before firing, something needed to change. Please note that my Ayanami is (over) luck modded which helps.

    (2) Ended up changing Yahagi for Gotland with 3x ASW and large searchlight. Honestly do not know whether that made any material difference at the boss or not, but OTOH didn't have that much higher of a taiha rate at Node K over Yahagi with normal searchlight so stuck with it.

    Ran node shelling support all sorties and double shelling support all LD sorties.
    LBAS = Group 1: 4x Toukai to node B; Group 2: 4x LBAS bombers to boss and Group 3: LBAS recon + 3x LBAS Bombers to boss.

    Comments:

    (1) I'm firmly in the camp that you need Nelson Touch at Node S. Might be nice/helpful at the boss node, but given my abysmal passing rate WITH using Nelson Touch at Node S, can't imagine trying to save it for the boss node (and hope it triggers/Nelson at light damage or better, targets key ships, etc. etc.).

    (2) Part 2 LD really pushed my salt levels. Took me "only" 20 sorties to get to LD WITH Friend Fleet. Not too bad, but lot better than LD for sure. During chipping I was getting bit under 50% passing rate. LD started off OK in terms of passing rate, but my passing rate just got worse and worse with at one point 10 retreats in a ow. That's not fun at all, especially with spending time to sparkle escorts and such. Final passing rate ended up at 30%.

    (3) When I did get to the boss, it was fleet wrecked (about 10 buckets per trip to boss) as I hoped for that magic combination.

    (4) Tried repair goddess for a bit, but as noted in my previous post comments about that, IMO this isn't a map for those. Rather save them for when the issue is the passing rate, but I have a decent chance at the boss node. The few times I tried did result in a somewhat hilarious sortie of Yahagi making it to the boss node at taiha, getting "sunk" in NB, then immediately getting taiha'd again.

    (5) Didn't try repair cranes. Would have if not for (A) still have Node S to pass by (and thus key ships damaged again and (B) just get killed at boss anyway. Maybe help with "stars align" a bit w/ a healthy key ship, but only so many of those and not buying more so saving for hopefully a better implementation.

    Conclusion: Quite possibly my least favorite KanColle experience which isn't great so soon after Spring 2019. Will say that at the least, this wasn't the resource black hole event like Spring 2019, thankfully given all the sorties I did to clear. So I'll give Tanaka +1pt for that at least. Still burned more resources on this map then rest of event though (farming was one saving grace for me here), and repair buckets use was pretty brutal.

    With the event long underway, comps/load outs are out, and as long as you have the requisite ships, levels & equipment, it's just sortie until RNG favors you. Wish I had a better solution go give, but is what it is. As I have all ships, I'm done with the event and will probably take a partial break from the game (so RIP ranking this month). I'm a bit burned out.

    Last, but not least, big thanks to @211303 for all the guides, @Kuropo for the moral support & fleet check, and everyone else who posted comps & gave advice. My sincere best wishes to those still working on this event in whatever form.

    @Ferreae: Congrats! Well earned.

    @silentcap: Congrats!

    @firehawk12: LOL, I forgot about the 24hr debuff reset for Summer 2015. Wow was that event a mess. Didn't hit 20 hours session(s), but yes, some long sessions indeed trying to get clear before reset. I never did
    figure out the exact debuffing requirements until they were tweeted out after the event ended. Still, was less than a year into KC so my enthusiasm was near if not at peak levels. For the record, I realized soon enough that I wasn't going to clear Summer 2015 on Hard so I dropped to Easy after bashing my head a few times against RNG. Thankfully, didn't miss out on too much reward-wise apart from 1st class medal. Spring 2015 (my 2nd event) is still probably my favorite in terms of pure enjoyment. Miscalculated preparation (leveled for fleet locking and didn't stockpile enough) so no Hard clear, but a lot of fun. Didn't we commiserate over Akatsukaze E-2 Node G farming (or was that Ghoulvarine)?

    @Kuropo Yep, got most of my Maruyu during events. Long time since good event Maruyu farming. :/ Problem is I have Maya K2 to finish up, a CL not named Abukuma, and at least another DD (probably poi) though with historic ships and such, Myoukou, another CL (also not named Abukuma) and 2-3 more DD would be nice as well. You get the point. So... trying LSC as I can with my ability to regen resources. I'm now on a 20x unsuccessful Maruyu LSC streak. Fun. Just getting average success rate would really help me out. :/

    As for ranking... not sure if I fully agree. Missed 2 months ago (or so) so no extra Nonaka LBAS. Those are nice. Did get another Ginga (also very nice). It's hit or miss with LSC rewards as always, but to me, lately it's been arguably more useful to rank in terms of getting that random very helpful piece of equipment.

    However, maybe I rank once a quarter and then try do just focus on Maruyu LSC, but yeesh is it demoralizing given my results. Again, would be thrilled with simply getting average results. :<

    @goesto11 I forgot what event it was, but that weird event where people figured out you should do boss support but with all Torpedo bombers because it just nuked the boss (I think it was the only time the aerial strike has been useful) was one of the nice events where the mechanics seemed interesting enough to balance out the salt levels. The other big highlight for me is when we had to use subs to deliver sauin parts to get that upgraded sauin plane. But these mechanic things seem to happen once a year, where most of the events have just become a blur of mostly similar mechanics being forced up against harder and harder bosses.

    (Funny enough, since I have done a lot of final maps on medium, I have yet to use an oiler for the purposes of using the green drums. It's the one thing I've never tried... well, that and I've never used a damecon/gami).

    Also I think that was Ghoulvarine - I actually didn't have trouble getting her and had no idea people were so desperate to get her at the time. Of course now I have like 20+ boilers just sitting in my inventory. lol

    I will say, the fun times of Summer 2015 was watching other players essentially stream the same map. It was as if the community was suffering through the event together in real time.

    Also congrats! lol

    @firehawk12: Thanks. The Aerial Support nuke event was Spring 2016 (Iowa) event, though it was DB on E-6 that did the nuking. Zuiun could also work to a lesser extent, but yeah, it was wait for Aerial Support to nuke boss to pass the map. >_> I got hung up on that with some bad RNG. Had exactly same support fleet & load out, but low damage results for quite a while until RNG cooperated. Spring 2017 was also quite RNG-ish as well (LBAS nuke a factor). Have to disagree with you though on Spring 2016. Still probably my least favorite event. Hyper RNG is just bad & just not a good event IMO. New mechanics are fine if well thought out and work properly. Ex: Boss debuffing is OK, but need to have some sort of confirmation & putting a reset time limit is NOT a good idea. OTOH, boss gauge regen is just a bad idea (see Fall 2013 E-5 Iron Bottom Sound).

    Ah, then it was Ghoulvarine who I commiserated with during Winter 2015 Amatsukaze farming. Node G was pretty brutal for those of us who were newer players back then. Wonder if @Ghoulvarine is still around/playing KC or not. Not too many of us from back then around. :/

    Well... still not ready to retire yet I suppose so lets see what "Winter 2020" event brings. Seen some speculative posts that given how long this event has lasted, we may see either it skipped entirely or get some sort of mini-event to get back on schedule. Could also see a small 3 map event. Can't see another large event though given that there's maybe 1 1/2 months between this event and the next.

    @goesto11 2016 was watching people in Admiral's uniforms stream the game and people do weird things like start events with 0 resources. lol Admittedly that's more the community than anything from the game itself.

    Here's hoping for a small event anyway. It's interesting because the introduction of friend fleets essentially turned this into two separate events compressed into 6 weeks - basically dividing it into pre-FF and post-FF.

    Just wanted to drop by to say congratulations on those who cleared. But I'm also making the post to state my retirement from the game. This event started so late for a "Fall" event that I didn't have the motivation to do it being smack down in one of the busiest times of the year. I've just come to the realization that the game has become dull for me. Since I started in Fall of 2014, not much has really changed in the game looking at the big picture. There's always new ships to look forward to but it's the same idle grind with no real purpose to me. Back then I had a lot to do building up my fleet to take on events but after a long while there's no longer any excitement for me. I was drawn in initially by the history surrounding the ships of WW2 and found the concept of personifying those ships as Kanmusu intriguing. But the game having no real evolution made it stagnant and I just slowly lost interest. I don't even rank and if I were simply just a collector, there's no point in my challenging harder difficulty in events and that's no fun for me either. It's been a good run but the time for me to move on has come. It will be less of a burden for me overall. I've been involved heavily with a couple of mobile games to keep me entertained and ones I greatly enjoy but my one and only browser game that is Kancolle will be dropped. Thanks to all who have given their feedback and help in the past to help me get through events. I will always be grateful for and cherish those times. That being said, there's little reason for me to stay active in the Kancolle forums either so I bid thee farewell and I hope you'll find continued success in the game if you keep on playing.
