    WN Translations general thread

Hello and welcome to the WN Translations general thread! We're a KanColle-focused TL group that took its roots on these here forums. Our goal: to give back to the KC community and provide you guys with some quality KC content in English that will keep you entertained while waiting to get your asses handed to by the events~. Here you can come to find about the doujins we've already translated, our future projects as well as give us your feedback. Please do stick around as hopefully we'll have plenty more things to share in the upcoming future~

Here's a few potential answers that might get asked:

    --------------------------------------------------------------

How do you go about translating stuff?

Our TL process doesn't go off the beaten path too much if any at all. First part of the process is picking the doujin we're gonna be working for. While the cleaner prepares the pages for the typesetter, Translator takes care of translating the text from the original language to English. After that the proofreader starts working on the wording, while consulting with the TL to make sure everything's in place. Once Cleaner and Proofreader are all done, text and pages are taken up by the Typesetter who applies the fonts + sizes and puts everything in place. Finally, the team takes a moment to sit through and discuss/review the entire project to see if there's any issues. During that time I usually ask several people to check the preview version and gather feedback. Once everything's set and approved, the translation is uploaded to the hosting site.

How to know if you guys made a new translation?

There's going to be several ways of knowing about that~ For one you keep an eye on this thread as I'll 1) Make a post about a new DJ translation being available and 2) I'll update this here post with the information about it (can be found at the bottom of the post)

Another way will be following our bato.to group link found here: WN Translations information page on Bato.to

Where are you going to upload the new translations/where can we find them?

For the time being we're uploading to 2 places, g-e (known better as e-hentai) and bato.to. Do keep in mind that g-e contains alot of mature material that is NSFW, so for that reason, given himeuta's rules we'll be posting primarily bato.to links. If you do prefer reading on g-e and are unphazed by H-content, you can easily find our works by searching for "WN_Translations"

Are you planning to do any H doujins?

Indeed we are, good sir. We're planning on covering both non-h and h content. Bear in mind that because of Himeuta's rules we won't be able to directly link you to the material. As mentioned above, you can find all the H-works by searching for WN_Translations on e-hentai.

Are you looking for more people to join your group and help translating awesome KC content into english?

Why, my good sir, the answer is absolutely yes! We're hoping to get more people on board so that we can cover more projects.

Keep in mind however, that our work is strictly non-profit, as in, we won't be taking commissions and won't ask for any kind of monetary support. This is our way of giving back to the community and we wish to keep it that way~ So as long as you're ok with that and have some free time to spare, feel free to join us!

Right now, by priority, we're looking for more of everything, meaning translators, proofreaders, editors/cleaners as well as quality checkers. If you want to give it a try/team up/stuff, feel free to post in this thread, PM me or @ me on GCT and we'll figure where to go from here. Any kind of assistance will be welcome.

If I were to join, what would be required of me?

Aside from the set of skills essential for your task (knowing the language you'll be operating on as a translator/proof-reader, knowing your way around GIMP/PS as an editor/cleaner etc.) all you'll essentially need is a gmail account to access our workplace at google drive. Communication will be performed via Discord (all the info will be provided in PM), as an added bonus it would be nice if you had a skype, tho that's not a neccessary requirement, as long as we have means of contacting eachother.

And of course the most important part would be for you try do your best~ Our goal after all is to bring quality product for people to enjoy, so putting your heart into it is a pretty important part of the whole job~.

Can I reupload your works to other sites?

Certainly~ you're free to reupload our doujins to whatever site you think will accept it. We do not have any specific requirements aside from the basic ones:
    1. Properly credit the group with an upload. The bare minimum is keeping the credits page in, but actually adding the group's name along the title will be a welcome addition.
    2. Do not upload our works with intent of making money off of them. Our work is strictly non-profit and we do not accept any kind of compensation. As such, we expect our works to be available free of charge wherever they're uploaded to.

I can't find your doujinshi on e-hentai, what's up with that?

The usual reason is because you're browsing e-hentai without an account. Usually new uploads dont show up for non-logged in members for a couple hours as a way of preventing any "inappropriate" content to get exposed to more people (usually shota/loli doujins). If it's a new upload we just made, give it a couple hours and check then. Once the doujin stays up for a couple hours it should be visible to everyone, logged in or not.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Without further ado, let me get to the good stuff~ Here is our newest work.

WN Translations team members: UPDATED AS OF 20-03-2016
Translators: Zalfier (CN), Blasterion (CN), Leyana (JP), Raiko/Amadoki (JP), Reasan (CN)
    Proofreaders: Aquan, AgentKiri, Penguinmafia
    Cleaners: Leyana
    Typesetters: Aquan

IMPORTANT NOTICE: right now we're looking for more translators, proofreaders and cleaners. Especially looking for a japanese and/or korean translator, typesetter and cleaner. To better explain what is required of each position, allow me to define each of them:

-Translator - As the name suggests, translates stuff from one language to another, in this case to English from whatever version we have. What is required of them? That they can read and understand the text and are able to translate it into English.

-Cleaner - Cleaner's job is to remove the original text from the doujin, so that the typesetter can have an easier time implementing the translations onto the pages. Occassionally it might require redrawing bits of the pages, depending on circumstances (some letters might go over the characters, etc). Requirements? Decent at using Photoshop, GIMP or similar software.

-Proofreader - His job is to review the translation given to him and enhance it to sound more "at home" to an english reader. Generally means he picks up the typos, rewrites the sentences and makes grammatical corrections where they're needed, while trying to keep the original meaning of the sentence intact. Requirements? English. Lotta English, Mutto mutto English dess. The better your english is, the better a job you can do.

-Typesetter - His job is to take the pages done by the cleaner and text given to him by the proofreader and edit it into the pages, using manga/doujin specific fonts, formatting the text etc. Requires ability to use Photoshop, GIMP or similar software

@Tex WN stands for Whale Noodles~ It's a play on words, since Taigei means "Great Whale" and Harusame is also a type of noodles~ Join the two together and voila~
