Looking broader rather than my own experience for a moment, I really think they should go back and consider new mechanics to keep people's attention on the event without resorting to the current system for friend fleets.

The friend fleet delay is there because they want people to either slow down and experience the event over the whole period. It's either fro along down to wait for the fleets, or slowing down because the maps are harder to clear.

The problem with that is it being a difficulty related mechanic fundamentally, everyone instead seeing it as a soft barrier that prevents you even trying a map. Putting aside player mentality, it's the designers job to steer players towards...productive behaviours.

I don't really know what's the solution for that, because there's also hugely different demographics in KC now, that have very distinct behaviour, and I don't just mean vets vs newbies. But they need to introduce something else, like I don't know, a challenge map or some kind of energy regen based mechanic.

But I see issues with even stuff like that, since given the age of this playerbase and the entrenched notions.....Something like the former would be seen as discrimatory towards more casual players since it's the mentality of even that group to still complete everything, even if it's on lower difficulties. And the latter will just be hit by similar notions to FF like wHy ArE yOu GaTiNg Us.

Long life game problems, but they still have to do something about it.

On my event run, it was pretty good I guess. 7 new ships was great, even if it meant the real advent of the trophy cruiser archetype. I was also fine with the difficulty spoke in EO, in my opinion if they call it extra ops, then it should feel very different. The initial op seems to be trending towards being fairly accessible.

This event highlighted for me how they seem to be aiming for historicals to be a minimum requirement for higher difficulties. I remember in the past people had concerns about the game being dumbed down, tick historicals on your checklist and you're good to go. That was definitely not the case over time, and particularly in this event. Having the right historicals was just the starting point. Since these are still Japanese ops and many historicals keep cropping back up, it's just another thing required as event prep to me.

The final map was a killer but in many ways more entertaining for me than some previous events. It actually did not feel unfair...and least not so much till I would be bitter about running it countless times for that one good LD run. I'd like them to hit this note again honestly, but it's so difficult since RNG contributes to it. The specific flavor in this E6 LD is both that frustrating type of RNG that u almost can't mitigate against, yet is also the source of the excitement. Yet another problem with no easy answer.

Interestingly, this event highlighting those issues...they're much more interesting than what the game had in the past. For the first time I wish I could get hired into the team, not because I'm frustrated with what they're doing, but because I think they have some very interesting problems to solve. Albeit familiar for long running games.

Event timing was unfortunate for me because it started during what might be the busiest time for me since I moved here, I barely had time to even play for over an hour for the first half of the event's period, but we managed to go all out on clearing by the second half. Overall I think its a good run, still.

I did H>H>M>E>E>E, though I feel like I was rushing near the second half, but I managed to get all the new girls, and manage to do another great TCF clear on the final map, bonus points that this time I was able to use all 10 Shiratsuyus. So glad I can still do challenges like these even amidst my busy schedule. It definitely was another fun event and another great mark on my history in KC.

Definitely looking forward to next event again, hopefully it doesn't happen on another busy period.

Welp I never got De Ruyter. But I did get Houston, so I suppose only missing one significant drop isn't bad (I didn't get the new DE either, but I said SIGNIFICANT drop).

My difficulty went H->H->H->M->M->M Which is pretty good for me. Due to me not keeping up with daily play, I usually drop to easy for last map. I should really grind properly now though since my bucket supply has dropped really low and would not survive another event like this..

E1 to E4 was pretty easy, E5 Medium was also easy.

I like the way E5 Hard was not rewarded with exotic equipment and posed as a challenge to those who wanted to take the challenge....
    So I wouldn't say it's pointless.

    As for E6...

I had to travel during the last two weeks of December, which also meant that I'll be extremely busy before the travels.
Simply saying, I had little time for the event...
That's worsened by the dev's decision to delay the event with friendly fleets for E6, and not knowing that it would last for 45 days - around two weeks longer than other events.

E6 without friendly fleets was possibly to worse event in terms of sanity for me...
For the first time since mid-2017 my oil dipped below 200k, and mid-2017 was over a course of two months of ranking T20 & T100 in the most competitive server...
As for other resources, it wasn't that bad given the event lasted much longer, and me being away (in terms of sortieing, expeditions continued) in the middle of clearing the event so that there was time for recovery.

Also never spent so many "cash items" (which was stockpiled over the years) in a single map.
E6 alone felt like an event of its own.
Ended up failing to clear E6H without FF before the travels.
I had moments where I question myself if I'm still "suitable" to go as a mostly-hard mode admiral

But at the end of the day, the event lasted way longer than I thought, and eventually E6H was cleared with FF, and without too much stress and pressure...
And also because of clearing E5 on med, farming on the map wasn't all that stressful as well.

Had they released friend fleets earlier, this would've been a good event.

I did H-H-H-H-M-M as planned, so it was pretty easy (E4 LD was the less easy part since I had the only 3 failed final kills of the event).
Although I didn't have any major issue, I had 2 trivial ones:
    1) For the first time I didn't have enough ships (mainly DD) for all the locks and best routings.
    2) I couldn't lock out those FF with CVCI (it has a chance to freeze the game on my old PC) in E5, so I cleared without it.

Well, barring the late ff that everyone had talked about, I would say this is a rather standard big event, probably even below average difficulty wise in terms of large scale event overall. E1-4 are all rather easy, and while E5H is pretty hard for what it is, most wouldn't be doing hard mode anyway. E6 would be the hardest map in this year, but probably can't be compared with the hardest maps of all time. In fact, I would probably put Colorado event's E5 before this if not for the ridiculous FF of that map. Not that I am complaining though, 7 new ships in a 6 map event, plus a couple of useful equipment is pretty satisfying as it is.

    A couple of notable things:

While Na class flagship and escort with similar toughness has been a thing for a couple of events already, this is probably the first one where LBAS recon was used in a large scale by the community, and it does show a significant effect. Expecting to see the recon to continue to be a staple in LBAS, and people without at least 2 should really get it in the current bean event.

HF/DF is a really great QoL equipment, as it enables reliable sparkling in 1-5 for 3 slot DD/CL at as low as 67 base ASW when paired with the ASW rocket and the SG radar.

Atlanta gun is certainly a welcome addition for Maya, allowing for more damage while not affecting her AACI. Her being in main fleet will no longer be a liability.

It would be interesting to see Atlanta's role in events in the future. As a CL, she faces intense competition from Melon k2, ABKM k2 and 4 slot CL oasw+nb equipment mule, as only one CL is allowed in escort fleet. An ideal map for her would be one with intense AA pressure and large ship restriction in main fleet. E5 in this event could be one of such example.
