[Guide] Troubleshooting the Error Screen

Over time, I've seen alot of reports of getting cat error screens when attempting to open the game, even though they weren't doing anything wrong, or the computer environment didnt change much, or even if they have done all traditional process in getting API link, or even just playing on DMM but still get this screen:
Things to Double check
- Is the server under maintenance? Check the forum news.
- Have you cleared your cache? Try doing everything again in Incognito
- Have you tried logging in again on DMM to play there or get a new API link?
- Have you tried checking other sites that maybe its your internet connection?
- Were you using viewers? Try logging in normally on browser.
- Were you banned? Login on DMM and see a black error message
Banned accounts see the cat error on API link, and black message on DMM - Have you tried switching to JP time? at least try
Checking for problems
#1 - Getting the Error Message
- Clear your browser cache
- When you start loading the game, open up your browser's devtools, usually F12
- On devtools, you can see a tab Network, click that
- Wait for the game to load, then eventually you get the cat error screen
- On cat screen, look at the Network panel again and find "api_start2"
- Click on that entry and a panel to the right will show up (see screenshots below)
- Click on "Response" on the new panel on the right
- Copy the text. Looks like this: Code:
svdata={"api_result":201,"api_result_msg":"....
- Paste it on this site: http://json.parser.online.fr
- Remove svdata= so it should now start with a curly brace {. Then it will show you an interpretation to the right
- Usually will say "申し訳ありませんがブラウザを再起動し再ログインしてください。". But if you got a different one, please follow its instructions and leave a message here so we can all investigate on your problem.

#2 - Check your Ping to KanColle Servers
Pings via speedtest or other means is different and useless at this point. We want to check your reachability to the KanColle Servers, and NOT some nearest server or some randomly chosen third-party ping checkers. Please do these steps.
- Know your API Link (an old, expired API link is fine)
- Get your server's IP address (For http://203.104.209.39/kcs/mainD2.swf, its 203.104.209.39)
- Open your command prompt (cmd)
- ping -t <youeserverIP> Code:
ping -t 203.104.209.39
- Ctrl+C to stop ping
You should see something like this:

If you've got request timeouts, or couldn't reach errors, then it is your internet connection which has a problem. Fixing your connection is a different story, though step 1 would be to try a different DNS but would most likely be unhelpful since we're accessing the game via IP, not domain name.
What you should know
"Game Start" requires a stable connection. The API call at the game start button screen requires a stable connection for it will download nearly 1mb of text and a small connection interference will give you cat error screen.

I just only can't play kancolle and have the cat screen error when i click start game, but i can play another games like shirocolle normally. And i have followed your 2 instructions but i don't see any different.

@hainguyen369 Have you tried using API? Clearing your cache? Changing your system clock to JST?

Currently, unless I have VPN on, there is no way for me to access the game. Region cookies, API, etc. don't work.
Fortunately if I turn on VPN the game still runs fine with API, log-in, etc.
Not sure why though.
Here is some of the issues:
1.
When I have VPN on, it works fine. However, the moment I turn it off, ERROR.
2.
The game doesn't even try to start to try loading without VPN...
3.
When my server is pinged, this happens.
4. When I put API into KCV (Grabacr07 ver.) this comes up:
[Fiddler] The connection to '125.6.189.135' failed.
Error: ConnectionRefused (0x274d).
System.Net.Sockets.SocketException No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 125.6.189.135:80
Have tried all suggested remedies. Nothing changes. First experienced this problem at ~17:00 JST on the 20th April 2015.

I need help, when I opened my KCV, it was forever in the white screen( total white screen, not cat error). When i check the dmm site it showed me a black screen( only black screen, NO BAN ERROR). It seems that one of my fellow admiral has the same error as me. What should we do?

in command prompt, use the tracert command for the following IPs, AND whatever your server IP is (read the original post for how to find that)
