Took the NOAP since it's the skilled version and I "could" make a full NB carrier fleet with 2 skilled NOAP + 2 NOAP + 2 night CVs.

Still have 1 jet engine from ranking so I'm not worried on that end.

OK, time to re-sparkle the support fleets, rank up some LBAS planes... And figure out what the hell I'm doing wrong. So far this LD feels like the worst I've faced in a long time.

Didi the chipping last week with CTF, and it was no problem. 4 runs with a CTF to satisfy the quest, and ran it again for a 5th since it seemed to be working. Didn't have much time this week, so finally going after the LD.

I'm 10 LD runs in with the same STF posted here. 5 made it to the boss, 5 retreats (3 at D, 1 at L, 1 at Q). Of the 5 that made it, I've gotten 3 A-ranks and 2 C-ranks.

Running both supports, fully sparkled. First run I still had a LBAS full of toukai going to D, but for the last 9 both have been going to the Boss with LBAS recon, fighter, 2x bombers. Other than that 1st run I'm getting AS at the boss. Even with 2 dedicated OASW DDs in my escort fleet, node D is the biggest roadblock after I dropped the toukai.

The problem seems to be I'm just not doing any damage. Either there's something wrong with my setup, or I'm consistently rolling shit damage. Even when Mutsu finally remembers to touch, it's common to see double-digit damage on each hit.

In 5 boss encounters, I've yet to sink ANYTHING in the main fleet except the CVLs. Haven't sunk the Dyson, or either of the Ne-class CAs let alone the boss. For that matter, I've barely gotten the boss below half HP.

FF seems to do OK clearing up the escort fleet trash, but miserable at doing any damage to the main fleet. The one time I rolled the Akagi FF, it was on a red-T and they may as well have not showed up.

So A) with an oiler and 2 OASW DDs in the escort, I'm down to 3 NB damage dealers. B) I've never has less than 4 ships left in the Main fleet after FFs finish. C) Based on the damage they're doing, even IF all three of my ships are healthy, and IF they all targeted the boss, I'm still not sure they'd do the job.

I'd appreciate any advice. Comps are below. I'm using 1 UNREP barrel per run - I'm not in danger of running out, but so far this is the most I've ever had to use. EVER. If I was consistently coming close and just missing, that would be one thing. But so far the stars aren't even out, let alone aligned.

    [+] Spoiler

    Main:

    Escort:

Node Support is 2x fBB, CA, CVL, 2x DD, Boss support is 3x fBB, CVL, 2x DD

    LBAS1 is Skilled LB Recon / Hayabusa 64th / M34 4* / M34, LBAS 2 is LB Recon / Spitfire IX / M34 / Ginga

And just for giggles, Here's what was my best run so far. Rolled the Houston FF, which sucks, but otherwise I've seen the British FF, which also sucked, and Akagi, who couldn't bust through the disadvantage of a red-T

@Etrigan Using Kamoi over Hayasui will give you a bit more punch cos Kamoi can equip night scout. Might want to give up Mutsu's recon for radar too for better damage of two shots of the touch. You are only giving up one right of artillery spotting so it is a worthy tradeoff. Also give Nagato better guns. There is no reason for her to be using anything smaller than 41cm. Other than that, if you are ok with the passing rate, switch one of the DD to NGNM who care easily one-shot boss with her TCI.

@211303 I've got a Kamoi Kai, never remodeled to Bo. She's Lvl 95, but wouldn't be fully modernized. And you mean searchlight, right? Hayasui's got a Night Scout.

Good call on Nagato - I'd used the proto 35.6 for the accuracy and because she was capped, but sinceI haven't seen an engagement form at the boss other than head-on or red-T I guess it's worth pushing over the cap.

I haven't luck-modded NGNM or Yuubari, so if I add NGNM I'd put her as the escort flag, and then I'm not sure it's worth having Yuubari set up for TCI. Could swap Atlanta to the Escort and replace Yuubari with Choukai in the Main fleet. As for being OK with the passing rate, right now 3 of 10 runs failed at D - I'm not sure taking out an OASW ship is going to go well. Worth a shot I guess.

@Etrigan oh yeah, searchlight, but make sure you are maintaining enough fighter power to AS too.

Just leave Melon with TCI setup. The main thing is the opening torp. Triggering TCI would be a bonus.

    Welp.

Changed the gun on Nagato and swapped the recon SP for a radar on Mutsu. Kept Hayasui, but swapped Tashkent in for Asashimo, for OASW and Searchlight. Swapped a repair crane in on akitsushima so I could repair my two CLTs if they got hit early.

Had 6 solid runs, only one retreat at Q. Had one run that almost made it - Parallel engagement, Mutsu touch obliterated both Ne. suck ass DD ff, but I went into NB with just the Dyson and boss. KTKM did 500+ damage to take out the dyson, and Ooi .... Choked with a double on the boss that did less than 30 damage total. fml.

And now three retreats in a row at D. Even burned a double Mamiya/Irako, and got sent home from D harder than ever. Go home RNG, you're drunk.

Off to resparkle. Have they announced an end date yet? I'm really starting to think I may not finish this one.

I finally completed the map. Until now this was the most difficult map that i have done so far (because the rest of the maps I always completed them in casual/easy).

    Final part summary
    [+] Spoiler

    Buckets used: More than 84 + 2 damecon + 5 Emer. Repair
Notable drops: Okinami (Again, node Q), Hirato (Node T)
    Runs needed: 15 pre-LD (3 A-rank, 2 S-rank, 7 retreats, 3 error-musume), 5 to clear LD (2 retreats)

I ended up passing the LD using the same fleet but with some differences:
    - Swap one of Nagato's weapons for a 46cm Triple Gun to activate full broadside first, thanks goesto11 for the idea.
    - Switch to Haguro for Myoukou to perform TCI.
    - I put Haguro in the Node Support.

It cost me 2 tries (the first one ended with Atlanta in taiha at node Q).

On the second try the stars aligned even though I started with Naka, Atlanta and Akashi medium damaged (Naka from node D, Atlanta and Akashi from node Q). The LBAS and support shelling sank almost the entire escort fleet, there was a green T, the Full Broadside sank a Ne-class Kai.
At the end of the day battle there was only CV-Hime (With 350-400HP) and a Ne-class Kai (Practically unscathed), Nelson's FF appeared but they only served to sink the Ne-class Kai (Neither Nelson nor Warspite did Cut-ins, Kongou was damaged before attacking, but the rest did Cut-ins).
A DA from Ooi left the boss with 111HP, the TCI of Myoukou failed, the one from Yukikaze failed too, but in the end it was Shigure who saved the day doing a TCI that ended up sinking CV-Hime and that's how I won.

-I forgot to make a screenshot-

As for the missions of this "mini-event", from the moment I could not complete 20WiB1 for not having completed B26 I cannot unlock the other missions that consume Hishimochi (Not even the weekly ones!). So I ended up screwed for being relatively new (and having 100 slots).

Personally I don't plan to go back to node T (unless I got Gotland and I want to get Samuel B. Roberts or Gambier Bay before the event ends).

Good luck to all! I'm going to rest...

Em... I think you heard something similar before...

    Hinamatsuri mini-event cleared Hard.

Well, 'Cleared'. To paraphrase someone from the last event - "When you suck SO hard the friend fleet takes pity on you, and puts the boss out of your misery."

The Houston ff, of all fleets. Went into NB with just the Boss & Dyson at Chuuha, and one Taiha Ne left. Houston NBCI for 100+ damage to the boss, and Perth did a 60+ point single attack to finish her off. And even then I left with an A rank.

LD was 21 runs, of which 12 made it to the boss for 9 A ranks and 3 C ranks. Retreats were D*6, L*1, and Q*2.

Just LD of this map took 40k in fuel, 30k ammo, 24k Steel, 11k Baux, 97 buckets, 10 UNREP barrels, 2 each Mamiya and Irako, and one emergency repair mat.

This event map wasn't too bad overall, but this was the worst LD I've faced in a long time. Runner up for the suck would be a tie between unlocking the T shortcut, and managing all the mod fodder to clear these @!#?@! quests.

Different between the player sucking and the player's fleet sucking is pretty big though.

@ofi123 I chalk it up to RNG sucking.
