    The most important feature of DDs(in my opinion) is the shorter minimal closing distance. The larger the ships the less you can close in on enemies for torps. I think for manual play DDs are far more rewarding for this reason.

    Evading ambushes is important as well especially for long event maps.

    DD move faster than the other 2 escort ships allowing to both evading and quickly catch to enemy ships. Of course they had poor firepower (except or Z23) which people must rely on torpedo damage. Also they take little damage on a aerial raid attack and gives better evasion during an ambush.

    Only problem is that DDs are just fragile, which you'll need to give them a repair kit, supported with someone with a healing skill or have Akashi/Vestal

    Hello newbie here, just started playing a few days ago
    want to ask some question if you all don't mind

    1. What ship should i use for escort ship? DD,CL,CA? and what combination is recommended? For now I just use the ship that I like, currently using Enterprise,ark royal,hornet,exeter,ayanami and indianapolis
    2. Whats the point of BB in the game? unlike kancolle which BB is pretty useful, i find BB in this game is very lacking compared to CV when i just click one button and bomb everything whereas i must aim manually with BB which is quite difficult coz the hitbox is weird and i cant aim when in bullet hell u know?
    I have seen argument where BB have more endurance but surely high leveled CV can withstand enemy air attack and suicide bombs right?
    3. Which ship is worth of remodeling? I'm still new and only have a couple mats so I need to choose

    Thanks

    @xero

    Welcome to Azure Lane!

    1. What ship should i use for escort ship?

    Each of the escort ships have their own strengths and weaknesses. Some of the benefits of DD's have been discussed further up in the thread (powerful torpedos and good evasion but poor endurance), but I'll briefly give you an overview of the other two types. CA have the heaviest armor and the largest main guns out of the three, but also are slightly slower in terms of movement speed. They often carry impressive offensive presence, especially when supported by powerful skills. American CA's equip smaller secondary cannons instead of torpedoes, giving them good DPS, while CA's with torpedos boast powerful burst damage (not as high as DD's though). CL's are similar to CA's, but with lower health and armor and medium-sized main guns. They typically have faster reload speeds than CA's, and are more agile. Some boast impressive AA power as well.

    Overall, I would recommend at least one ship in each escort fleet with torpedos, a ship with good offensive, and at least one with good AA value (some of these roles can be carried on a single ship).

    2. Whats the point of BB in the game?

    BB fill two important roles: Defense and long-range sniping barrages. Not only do BB's have higher health and armor than CV's, even at equivalent level, but BB's also have secondary cannons that can destroy explosive ships should they slip past your scout fleet. CV's and CVL's can clear bullets and torpedos from the screen and inflict massive damage, but BB's fire instantly once loaded, only delayed by the time it takes for the shots to fly across the screen to their targets. They reach their targets faster than CV's which take several seconds to launch and begin their bombing/torpedo runs. BB's can also be equipped with different cannon types to deal with different kinds of targets. AP cannons load fast and inflict heavy damage on single hard targets like bosses. Explosive cannons have splash damage, allowing them to destroy wide clusters of enemies.

    Aside from their offensive presence, some BB's have very useful support skills which make them well worth bringing along even if you never fire their main battery (or the battle ends before she can finish loading).

    3. Which ship is worth of remodeling?

    I would recommend CVL Shoho, who can act as a support carrier to heal your scout fleet each time she launches aircraft, much like Unicorn. Suffolk is a good upgrade candidate as well, gaining a useful skill along the upgrade path to remodeling. I have heard that Fortune and Cygnet are also good choices, but I have not invested in them yet so I cannot vouch for them personally.

    I see thanks for the info
    Guess I need to start raising at least one of each ship type

    There's an event going on on the JP server with respect to the carrier Unicorn. I'm not entirely sure what the objective is, but it seems to involve voting.

    Think the winner of the final round gets a new costume.

    Unicorn event is different I believe...more of a 'complete certain tasks daily as they unlock'. End result is a stardust outfit for Unicorn.

    @xero The most important type of ships to have trained up are a BC (repulse/renown/hood are your most likely choices, the two german ones I'm unsure on availability right now) and a couple of DD's, plenty to chose from depending on your playstyle, If you started with Ayanami she's always a good choice though.

    BB are the kind of ship that at low levels you can't see their value but at higher levels and once you've fully uncapped them they become pretty powerful, a 2CV 1BB fleet is much stronger than 3CV fleet. QE is always amazing if you have a british heavy fleet due to her buffs, South Dakota is a good defensive option who works well with ships like Hipper-class or Portland-class. You can just go for more damage like with Warspite and find ones with extra attacks or damage boosts instead as a well equipped BB will melt anything they target at 70+.

    CL tend to be faster, rapid fire damage that are good at dealing with lower HP common enemies, although some can really ramp up the damage on high HP bosses. CA tend to hit harder but less frequent and their HP pool makes them more durable but both ship classes have some that excel at very different things. Such as Belfat having damage reducing smoke or Sandy having insane AA that demolishes planes.

    Overall though, you'll probably want to focus on mostly CL/CA early on just because it's easier to S rank and get less losses, DD tend to be harder to keep alive without a few levels or using ships to help survival like using Unicorn/Shoho that recover HP occasionally and things like an upgraded Cygnet who has a slightly less effective version of belfat's smoke (although getting belfat herself is probably easier of the two methods of getting the skill)

    For upgrades horde Don't bother focusing on upgrading yet, just focus on getting the materials. DD/Cruiser Materials are used most currently, but they are adding new ones all the time. Depending on who you use and want to use these upgrades can go to different ships. Like if you use Indianapolis and Portland defensive style, getting portland up becomes important but if you use a more damage focused getting suffolk up might be better for you of those two. It's best to just find who you like using and upgrading those as it takes a while to get enough purple blueprints.

    Two things will never happen:
    Yuzuki getting added or Kagero-class K2.

    Wrong. I'll suggest that you check the Azur Lane wiki so that you won't be confused. At this time it is possible to finish all of the Stardust event to get her outfit.

    @firemagnet Here: https://azurlane.koumakan.jp/Events/Stardust

    The wiki Popularity Contest page is blank though. Pretty much seems 'daily reset 3 votes + 1 supervote, 4 pools that will to go onto a final pool, costume for winner(s).
