    @DLRevan I'm guessing the 3 DB fitting with AP bombs cutting off the balls of some random German BB player that invested nothing at all in AA. That's what got you reported. BB players have complained about AP bombs more than torpedo bombers since Enterprise's AP bombs came out.

    @M.A.Mitscher Enterprise and some previous iterations of GZ have of course been supremely good at deleting German BBs, somewhat OK versus other BBs, RNG fest versus CAs and virtually worthless on anything smaller. That's nothing new.

    Sometimes certain weapon types don't do what you expect....like RNCL AP being intended for eating destroyers alive.

    On another note perhaps, Asia Cruiser meta has been back in force lately when I'm playing. Sometimes I don't even see any battleships, even IJN and German, which are the most common....

    So this is what Zeppelin's exclusive (for the "beta-testers") camo will look like

    Hello everyone!

    As the long process of Graf Zeppelin testing is slowly coming to its final phase, we're happy to share our special GZ permanent camo design. Frankly speaking, after reading your suggestions, we let our imagination run free, but hey, who wants a regular design for such a cool cause? Anyway, let us know what you think, and here are the bonuses:

    * Both standard combat bonuses;
    * +50% to combat XP;
    * +50% to commander XP;
    * +10% to credits;
    * -10% to service fee.

    Zeppy's shakedown runs tests are nearing completion, and here is the last build being tested, as posted on the FB page:

    (incoming wall o'text)

    Hello everyone!

    We would like to thank all testers for participation. Your contribution is very important for us and helps make the game better.

    Today we are ready to share the final setup of Graf Zeppelin and tell you about the fifth stage of testing.

    After analyzing your answers to the survey, we added standard torpedoes for t-bombers. In port you can choose standard or deep-waters torpedoes. DW torpedoes can't harm destroyers, but they have bigger chance for flooding than standard.

    For bombers two types of bombs will be available - HE and AP. AP bombs allow for more damage in a single approach. HE bombs deal more damage over time with fires and destroy ships' modules.

    According to your answers we increased the loadout of fighters and decreased their number slightly in hangars to increase the number of strike planes. Also we changed angles of secondary armament on the carrier's deck. Now they can open fire from both sides of the ship.

    We also received a lot of feedback regarding detectability range and some comments about aircraft type on the ship. We want to clarify and exclude further misunderstanding between players and developers. Graf Zeppelin's hull and superstructure height are the reason we can't decrease this parameter.

    We are not planning any changes to the fighters and strike aircraft except for increased loadout. Graf Zeppelin has a very powerful strike setup. Her AP bombs are quite effective against battleships and cruisers, t-bombers can threaten most types of ships and secondary armament can be a serious danger for destroyers.

    Moreover, opposing team has to have a chance for countermeasures to the powerful Graf Zeppelin and each ship has an aspect which needs to be handled with extreme caution. In case with German carriers - it is durability of her planes. When it comes to fighter planes it is a good idea to use their tier VII as an advantage and pick the "Dogfighting Expert" skill for your captain. It will help you significantly, since most of the planes which you are going to meet in battles will be tier VIII aircraft. And this skill will provide you with +10% to average damage per second.

    Now let's talk about the setup of Graf Zeppelin. In the final test you can try two setups:

    1-2-1: 1 fighter squadron containing 8 planes (16 units total), 2 torpedo bomber squadrons, five planes in each (27 units total) and 1 dive bomber squadron containing 9 planes (29 units total). This is the setup you tested in version 0.6.13. The setup has received very good feedback from players and has a great combat performance.

    2-0-3: 2 fighter squadrons, five planes in each (24 units total) and 3 dive bomber squads, 3 planes in each (48 units total), bombers are equipped with AP bombs only. It's the default setup of the Graf Zeppelin that she received after becoming available. After many tweaks it has become quite effective. The circular drop zone for bombers will remain and the circle itself will become a little smaller. This will allow for increased efficiency and competitiveness with the other flight control.

    Also we added Hydroacoustic Search similar to tier VII Cruisers with the following stats: duration - 94 sec, torpedo detection range - 2,97 km, ship detection range - 4,2 km, cooldown for Hydroacoustic Search I - 180 sec and Hydroacoustic Search II - 120 sec, charges for Hydroacoustic Search I - 2 and Hydroacoustic Search II - 3. It's a very unusual consumable for an Aircraft Carrier, but we think it may help you in some situations complementing her good secondary armament.

    We are going to start the next stage in the near future and the carrier will be available for testing for two weeks. This test is probably going to be the last one and you should be able to try the ship in her production variant after that. And as we promised, all players who decided to keep Graf Zeppelin will receive a custom permanent camouflage for her, moreover, ships will be exclusive to their current owners for at least 3 months. During this period you can get a refund for the ship if you don't like her.

    Thank you for your participation and see you soon!

    You'd have to be stupid to pick DWTs over normal torps for the TBs. Extra flooding chance? LOL!

    So, when Ranked is over, the Graf Zeppelin testing will resume, probably for the last time.

    Greetings, captains!

    We are pleased to announce that the 5th phase of Graf Zeppelin testing starts on January 31 until February 13.

    All test participants will receive GZ Test I and GZ Test II.

    Rewards for test will be the same:

    Mission 1
    Restrictions:
    Random battles
    Once per account
    Conditions:
    Over any number of battles gain 9500 base XP
    Rewards:
    3 random containers
    20 000 elite xp

    Mission 2
    Restrictions:
    Random battles
    Twice a day per account
    Conditions:
    Earn 600 ship base exp
    Rewards:
    x2 commander's experience

    When the ships are removed after the test, commanders are sent to the reserve, while upgrades, flags and consumables are demounted and sent to your inventory.

    In the 5th test you can try two setups:

    1-2-1: 1 fighter squadron containing 8 planes (16 units total), 2 torpedo bomber squadrons, five planes in each (27 units total) and 1 dive bomber squadron containing 9 planes (29 units total). This is the setup you tested in version 0.6.13. The setup has received very good feedback from players and has a great combat performance.

    2-0-3: 2 fighter squadrons, five planes in each (24 units total) and 3 dive bomber squads, five planes in each (48 units total). Bombers can be equipped with AP or HE bombs. It's the default setup of the Graf Zeppelin that she received after becoming available. After many tweaks it has become quite effective. The circular drop zone for bombers will remain.

    Thanks, and see you soon!
    It's interesting to compare this announcement with December's, which is here. For example, there's no mention of Deep Water torpedoes, and the 2/0/3 loadout can now pick either AP or HE bombs.

    The reworked Graf Zeppelin will be out for 0.7.3

    Hello, captains!

    We thank every participant for battling with Graf Zeppelin and answering the surveys. Your contribution means a lot to us and helps make World of Warships better.

    After 5 stages of testing we’re ready to share the final state of the German carrier for her debut on the live servers.

    Once the 0.7.3 update comes out, two flight controls will be available for the ship:

    ∙ The initial one with 2 squads of 5 fighters each and 3 squadrons of 5 dive bombers each. The planes for this setup have been changed and you can read more about them below.

    ∙ The second variant was created at the time of testing and was appreciated by many players. It includes 1 squadron of fighters, that consists of 8 planes, 2 squads of 5 torpedo bombers each and 1 squadron of 9 dive bombers.

    During the testing planes were improved. Fighters received increased HP and moved down to tier VII from VIII, which helps to fend off enemy squadrons better, especially combined with the “Dogfighting expert” skill. Bombers received a circular drop zone instead of the usual ellipse, and that allows to forego the decision on the angle of attack. Strike squadrons have a choice of HE and AP bombs. AP bombs have nearly zero lag after the drop, so they reach the target virtually instantly. Torpedo bombers have 2 types of weaponry – standard or deep water torpedoes. Deep water torpedoes cannot hit destroyers but have a significantly increased chance to cause flooding, compared to the standard ones.

    Not only the flight setups have changed, however, but the ship’s stats as well. Considering the quite powerful and unusual caliber of her secondary weapons and the “Hydroacoustic search” consumable, Graf Zeppelin can become a threat even without her planes, especially to a hidden destroyer. That rewards an aggressive playstyle. We have also improved the angles of the deck secondaries, which allows the ship to fire from both sides.

    Graf Zeppelin turned out to be a unique and curious ship. Her strike squadron threatens even the ships a tier higher, but be wary of which target you decide to attack. A strong AA formation may seriously threaten your aviation, yet a lone ship will have a myriad of issues from your striking potential and Junkers sirens. This carrier’s fighter planes will hardly make for aerial domination, but they provide great support and defense for the strike squadrons. By the way, squadron take-off that’s quicker than on other carriers will be of tremendous help when you need to populate the airspace rapidly.

    The setups will replace the one available currently, when the 0.7.3 update goes live. We hope you like it, but if not, and you decide that the ship is not to your taste, you’ll be able to refund it from the time 0.7.3 comes out, all the way until 0.7.5. As we’ve said before, the ship will only be available to those who have already acquired her, for at least 3 months from the end of this test period (0.7.3 release). Moreover, if you keep the carrier, you’ll receive a unique camo for your Graf Zeppelin.

    Thank you for being with us, and see you soon!
