    Zeppy gets another loadout to test:

    We sincerely thank all the players for participating in our survey and are happy to report that the GZ Test I with deep water torpedoes will last until October 12th. On that day we will send out a new survey and ask you to evaluate the efficiency of that setup for the carrier and share your impressions.

    We would like to share some of our plans for upcoming tests.

    We made appropriate changes to the 2-0-3 setup (2 fighter and 3 bomber groups) according to your feedback. The circular drop zone for bombers will remain and the circle itself will become a little smaller. This will allow for increased efficiency and competitiveness with the other flight controls.

    Another new setup for GZ Test I is 0-3-2. It lacks any fighter planes but has 2 bombers and 3 torpedo bombers.

    There are two types of bomber planes:
    - with AP bombs, which allow for more damage in a sigle approach;
    - with HE bombs for dealing more damage over time with fires.

    The circular drop zone for bombers remains in this setup as well, with the circle radius itself being reduced.

    Torpedo bombers will be equipped exclusively with deep water torpedoes, which can not harm destroyers. This type of setup will let players deal more damage to the enemy ships, but that also means that air superiority is sacrificed and one would have to work harder to avoid opponent's fighter planes.

    The third stage of Graf Zeppelin testing will be launched with patch 0.6.12. We came up with 2 new setups and will be eagerly awaiting your feedback on those.

    a 0/3/2 Strike Zeppelin loadout, with AP or HE bombs and Deep Water torpedoes. I'm pretty sure all carriers would be happy to fight this one, with the probable exception of Strike Lex.

    @Keyan_TTK While using Lexington, I crush the DB or TB versions that were fielded prior already. Like, not even a contest. GZ is so bad in the air that Strike Zeppelin may actually be a better route. But of course, your team is going to hate you to no end. Having 0 fighters in the air also means you cannot pick off bombers of opportunity, on top of absolutely zero means on slowing the enemy CV down at all.

    Even with Kaga's crappy fighters, you can still cause some bomber losses on intercepts or air defense. Hell, you can camp those fighters to annoy the DDs. Nobody ever camps fighters over DDs using bombers. They may for a short bit, but they'll always bring them back.

    Strike Zepp is just gonna be useless. Her planes already melt when aa fires at them, now we're adding in enemy fighters getting a free meal. Even shitty fighters can pull the enemy of your bombers so they can drop accurately.

    Seems like WG are thinking "no need to fix the fighter problem if there are no fighters."

    Hopefully they actually buff the plane HP on the "standard" loadout

    Greetings, captains!

    We are back and pleased to announce that the 4th phase of Graf Zeppelin testing starts next week after 0.6.13.1 update.
    All test participants will receive two aircraft carriers - GZ Test I and GZ Test II.

    GZ Test I with Flight control: 1-0-3 (1 fighter squadron and 3 bomber squadrons). Your fighter squadron will have 9 planes. The tier of fighters has been reduced to VII without changes in their battle performance. For your bombers squadrons you may choose between AP and HE bombs.

    This flight control is introduced to address the point that was appearing in your feedback: lack of air superiority.

    GZ Test II with Flight control: 1-2-1 (1 fighter squadron, 2 torpedo bomber squadrons and 1 bomber squadron). Your fighter and bomber squadrons will have 9 planes. The tier of fighters has been reduced to VII without changes to their battle performance. For your bomber squadrons you may choose between AP and HE bombs.

    This is completely new flight control with all the aircraft types. It offers a good compromise between air superiority and striking, but be careful - your torpedo bombers hit only Aircraft Carriers and Battleships.

    Aircraft takeoff time and time required to prepare for takeoff have been cut in two for GZ Test I and GZ Test II. Also, we reduced landing time for all aircraft.

    The fact the fighters have been down tiered but their stats havn't means that they'll benefit from from that dog fighting skill more as well. and for a squad or 9, with AS thats a 10 squad.

    @WtBlaze That skill is honestly terrible even when the gap is 2 tiers or more. Saipan is quite good enough proof of that. I'd also mention it defies belief that you would design a ship in such a way that you're expected to take the skill, with little other viable option. Except that ship sailed long ago with skills like Concealment Expert.

    My understanding is that only the Dive bomber squadrons will have 9 (or 10, with the Air Superiority skill) planes. Besides, she has only Deep Water torpedoes.
    So send in the Stukas to whittle down that pesky AA, then follow in with a TB cross. Farm BB salt tears, rince & repeat.

    Despite the devs touting "Moar choice" in Commander skills, there isn't that many variation in skill picks, and nearly none for the CV commanders, which kinda shows how niche it is, and how good a grasp the devs have of CV gameplay.

    I like how they're going through all this trouble to ensure Graf Zeppelin will be nice and everything, but Lexington will always be s--t, even after the USN CV Revamp. Graf should be able to easily bully Lexington now.
